I"m no lawyer, but I imagine that in some cases it wouldn't be considered breaking the law. What it would be considered is a threat to the person whose space you're invading. The person (again, just my opinion) then has a right to respond to said action as a threat. In the case of this video, I think the auditor had every right to unload a full can of pepper spray into this guys eye sockets.

"You are allowed to use reasonable force when your life/safety is placed in danger but no more than is reasonable or necessary. The amount of force really depends on the situation and the circumstances. For example, you obviously cannot use a weapon unless you have a reasonable immediate fear for your life or the life of others" I got this answer off google from a lawyer. not sure what state he is referring to, or if it is valid legal advice. If I was on a jury I would conclude that Amagansett was within his rights to pepper spray the lunatic after he got in his face in a seriously threatening manner

But when you spray someone, you do have to call the cops and report it, so your side of the story can be documented. If not, the other party will call, make up some story, everything gets convoluted, etc. Jason did make the smart move. But the second Sniveling Severio laid a hand on him, then it's the proper response. 👍🏻

As a personal defense instructor, I will tell you that you should have sprayed him! Never let someone close that distance and get that close to you. He put you in reasonable fear for your safety and you would have had EVERY right to respond. Never let an aggressive person get that close because he could have stabbed you or hit you and you would have been too close to stop it. Don't risk your personal safety. Be careful!

Seriously. People just need to mind their own business. If you want to ask a question, then do so politely. Jason usually will give respectful people information on what he is doing. They also need to make sure that they don’t state that they don’t consent to being filmed or to delete their footage. They came up to a camera. No logic, just emotions now a days.

I never said correcting someone was rude, I said putting them down for something as insignificant as spelling is. In the same respect if he had sprayed him it probably would've given that guy a huge wakeup call when the police came and told him gre had no right to get in his face like that. @@grant6965 90% of the time the police respond and have animosity towards the camera men. Assuming they were auditors most likely they would have arrested jason. Told him to sort it out in court and sapena or confiscate his cameras. The cops almost always act like this.

But it is always a huge possibility that the police react negatively toward him. They generally seem to hold animosity to the public. But we see more bad interactions than good.

I haven't figured out the psychology of why people trip out about them either. I feel like it's a power control type thing. They say something expecting him to bow because everyone is so woke these days that we cherish everyone's feelings. When they don't get the expected reaction, they get awe struck, confused, not sure what to say, then their ego kicks in because they feel embarrassed and they act a fool.

I don't start fights, but if I were Jason here, I would have been praying for him to just touch me once. And I wouldn't use pepper spray. I'd use the old rear naked choke and make 100% sure he goes to sleep so he can ponder his decision when he wakes back up again.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your observation about covid and drinking. 27 years sober and then a year ago he starts back up? Takes a high level of pressure to make a guy drink after that length of sobriety. You should be proud of your restraint.

As a bartender with over 20 years of experience in both the operational and management sides of the industry, I can attest to the fact that this individual demonstrates multiple signs of inebriation. His body language, Confrontational, belligerent, and defensive attitude... unwillingness to engage in rational dialogue, unwilling to accept it when he _knows_ that he's had enough, and still refusing to leave when the door is already open for him to do so... The fact that this appears to have occurred during the middle of the day, and this guy is driving around in a 3/4 ton pickup concerns me way more than the exchange between the two of you. That "masked man" has some serious personal issues going on.

I hope he’s okay. His story is a painful one I’m sensing. But he didn’t lash out. I think there is a good person in there. But he definitely has raised alarm bells re his driving. He might not have wanted an in counter with law enforcement because he is not flying shiny. Could have prevented him being more physical?

I'm a trained martial artist and u can't let people get that close to you as u couldn't react quick enough if he struck headbutt or stabbed you you need 2 manage the distance to prevent damage and your son was right as soon as he was in your face your a threat so you should of sprayed him as a preemptive defence. @Erik Pettis mainly only trained people tend to use throws and I couldn't imagine a trained person 2 act like this man did and get within striking range and stand there 2 argue that's why I used the 3 most commen street attacks as my example but yeh he was also vunrable 2 a knee in the place where it hurts too and a take down or throw as u suggested
