Well... I feel like the Rays accomplished more with that game than the Dodgers did with winning the World Series. Think about it. First, it was a walk-off win in a big game. Those always feel better to the winner as it more than likely means that it was a close game that you managed to overcome in the end after fighting hard. Secondly, with that win, the Rays had broken their record for most games won in a single World Series (Previous best: 1). Then, there were the records broken by Arozarena. Finally, Phillips... A nobody in terms of batting average (.202 career, .000 in the postseason) gets what every baseball kid dreams of: a walk-off RBI/Home Run in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs.
@BenMan8881
@BenMan8881 3 года назад
Meanwhile... What exactly did the Dodgers achieve in winning the World Series, something they've done before? Stop another choke? I guess... But none of their wins was a struggle by the end of the game. Game 6 was the closest to that, but they had it won in the 6th inning. Really, for the Dodgers, nothing was achieved that they haven't achieved before.

I didn't watch the game, so maybe this is obvious, but I'm guessing the loud cheers of the fans were prerecorded (based not only on team/stadium responses to MLB's restrictions on fan attendance due to COVID, but the "apparent" thin and socially distanced crowd on hand). However, I even find the video images of the fans in the stands to be questionable, considering how sedately they seem to be responding (albeit standing) after such an epic ending!! Notice that all of the camera shots before the end are close-ups, and avoid the stadium seats. Afterwards, on the field, all the camera shots are unusually close to the players, with the fans in the background being long/distant shots - and they, the fans, don't appear to be reacting commensurably to what has just transpired before their eyes! Even in the video replay of the hit from behind the plate, the fans in the background (right-center field bleachers) appear to be standing calmly - obviously a completely inconsistent response to what they're witnessing in real time! (I'm not suggesting there were no fans, though, as one of the replays of the winning score from the stands behind the plate - near the first base side - showed some fans jumping up and down in the foreground). In the age of COVID, and fake news, perhaps I shouldn't perceive it as creepy as I do!

I thought Phillips had the most genuine reaction ever to having a big playoff hit. He's not going through the pre-choreographed theatrics that all the superstar players seem to have ready among each other when they get big hits. He had that moment to himself afterward where he looked like he was gonna cry. It's truly one of the wildest and rawest moments I've ever seen in a World Series game.

@@MultiAbi2012 Jansen shouldn’t have been there from the beginning. And Baez should not have continued into another inning. It is Roberts’ fault that he has a hard on for Jansen in the 9th when he has zero command and pedestrian stuff.
