Tje evo version of this sounds a lot creepier than the OG and greatly foreshadows Weissmann. That fight was super intense but also really great as a story climax. Especially with the way the main villain of FC ends up as a really great ally later on.
0:35 I don't know where this person got the "Aureole" motif from, since it's the same as the "Trails in the Sky", or, as it's popularly known, the "Liberl" motif. They're both referencing the same track, which is the opening, "Sora no Kiseki", just different parts of it. And whenever the first (1:53) melody comes up in a track, the second one (2:19) always does, too. 4:15 Let's go over this and refresh your mind, then. In CS1, "Great Power" references the opening, "Ashita e no Kodou", also heard in "Lonely Journey" and "Dining Bar 'F'". "The Decisive Collision" creates its own leitmotif, but it's only referenced in CS2, with "Blue Destination", "Remaining Glow" and "Season of Departure". In CS2, "E.O.V." references "Class VII" from CS1, also heard in "Forward, Relentlessly" and "Awakening". "To a Glimmering Tomorrow" references "The Sunlight of Spring", also heard in "To the Irreplaceable People", "Reunion" and "Season of Departure". And in CS4, "Majestic Roar" references "The Final Choice" from Sky 3rd, or, as it's popularly known, the "Heimdallr" leitmotif. In Hajimari, "Perfect Steel of ZERO" may also reference this same leitmotif, but it's uncertain if it's intentional or just a coincidence. Now, talking about the track itself, I believe this is one of the only Evo arrangements I prefer over the original, but I still don't find either of them amazing. They're good, but not standouts of the OST imho. The reason why I think this is that while the original does have a pleasant arrangement and the referencing of two motifs is nice (one of which is its first appearance in the OST, I believe), It's really just that. It feels to me more like a motif compilation than an actual track, because it doesn't have a lot unique to itself to offer, so it ends up more on the bland side. The reason I prefer Jindo's arrangement over the original is because of how he makes the buildups a lot better and more menacing, which makes the track stand out a little bit more in my eyes. The added minute might feel a tad repetitive, but I really appreciate the way it handles the Weissman motif. Overall I think it's just straight up an improvement over the original.
I just went with it, lol Thanks for the refresher! Time to screenshot this comment xD I completely agree with your analysis ^^ that extra minute honestly did so much for the track overall.
Ughhh That boss had like 2 HP left by the time Estelle's turn came around, so I let her whack it to death with her stick, it was a pretty awesome finish.
Maybe I have no personnality but once again I agree. This Evo track is one of the best compared to the original. I like the more orchestral vibe they went for and the added segment is definitely a big win. But when it comes to final boss themes it's still far from being on the top of the pack.
I mean, it's either one or the other, don't think that has any bearing on personality xD the usage of Weissmanns theme is still living in my head rent free. In retrospect it's such a crazy thing to add to this track.
