Ancient Makes is a really nice song in the final boss fight. The other final boss theme that plays during the very final fight is nice too, but I liked that Ancient Makes had that electronic type sound in Ancient Makes. It makes it really stand out.
The Evo version of this song sounds great actually. I also love the part in the middle with the main Sky song. Reverie was in insane Final Boss. Especially when you have no idea what you're doing.
Definitely agree with your conclusion. As itself I think the Evo sounds cooler, but in context I prefer the original one because... reasons. Idk how to explain but I really think it fits more and not only due to nostalgia reasons.
Reverie intensifies! Man, it really does have that old school final boss theme. It reminds me of the old Final Fantasy final boss themes. CHAOS! My homie, Jack!
very old school vibes, plus thematically it just fits super well. I had to, anytime I hear the "C" word now I think of Jack xD I need to play that game
Loved both og had like old creepy aspect really liked but Evo one had well everything added on top Evo fit bit more og just really did good job containing themes
Negativity Warning. I don't like this one. Ancient Makes is BY FAR my least favorite FC Evo arrangement. I'm not even gonna bother saying about technical stuff here, because it's actually pretty good on what it's going for. The problem is that it's going for the wrong thing entirely. The original Ancient Makes is not just "different" for the purpose of being different, or to fit the atmosphere of the final boss. It's a musical foreshadowing, that actually begins with the electronic sounds in Hollow Light of the Sealed Land, but gets more focus here. Ancient Makes is supposed to be a preparation for what's to come in Sky SC, it's foreshadowing the Liber-Ark's electronical musical style. This is a type of musical foreshadowing that I've never seen before (or after!) this track, It's nothing short of genius, and it's part of what makes the original track so special, and also why I hate the Evolution arrangement so much even though it's fine on a technical level. When I listen to it, the feeling that comes up is "what a lazy, careless arrangement", and it completely overshadows everything else. I'm sorry if I'm being too spiteful with this one, but to me it truly feels disrespectful to Ishibashi's efforts, to the musical history of the franchise, and to the story of the arc itself. I really REALLY hate it.
You know, that actually makes a lot of sense to me. Thematics are very important, and well... this is Trails after all so the little things matter a lot.
