The greater white-fronted geese are a rare beast here in Maryland. There were four hanging around locally that turned into a big deal. Finally found them after weeks of searching. Not whole fields of them like you have. Found a snow goose too but had to resort to seeing the one at the local driving range surrounded by a bunch of Canada geese and neon yellow golf balls.

Now I'm wondering if I've ever seen cackling geese, or were they all Canadian geese.

Good job with the camera work. Maybe add a steel camera with a long stabilized lens for close-up? Thanks!

Congrats on your great royal goose flush! One nice thing about WI is you have the influence of both the Great Lakes and the Great Plains for birding. It’s definitely a bigger challenge to get all 5 geese here in Michigan. It’s doable but not likely in a single day! Nice work.

A flock of blue winged teals showed up in our backyard pond and luckily haven’t left! Our pond is pretty marshy so I guess they would like it. It’s the first species other than mallard to show up in our pond. Also some egrets.

end of april 2022 spring coming in slowly. JUNCOSJUST COMING THROUGH a pair of trumpeter swans just flew over and a pair of beautiful wood ducks paddled by. My motto "just shoot with a camera , " been birding since 2ooo started on the old booming grounds of fran and fritz Hammerstrom. Ah "the skydance of bogsucker " is also cool .

Wow Ryan, that was amazing! I love Canada geese. I see many of them here in east/central Texas. I saw one just a few days ago and thought it looked a little different but I still assumed it was a Canada goose, but now I know it was a Cackling goose instead !! They look so much alike. THANKS for a great show!!

The amount of accessible waterfowl in the Midwest compared to the Southeast is impressive. Cool video! I still haven’t seen two of those species.

Greetings from Germany! I saw my first ever group of greater white-fronted geese just earlier this year. I was thrilled about it, because 90% of geese you see around here are Greylag and Canada geese. Also: your Redheads look very similar to our common Pochard! I guess I´m not too familiar with American birds...
@BadgerlandBirding
@BadgerlandBirding 2 года назад
Greetings! They are very similar! And congrats! Are your Greylag Geese Wild? We he have domesticated Greylag Geese that you see every once in a while but of course they’re not countable.

@@BadgerlandBirding Yes, they are wild. As far as I know they are the most common geese in Germany in general. Sometimes you see hundreds of them in a day during migration!
