Started off with some Pho, a place that Troy and Blaise said is a hidden gem and must eat while in Saigon. The pho is so aromatic when you walk into this open air place you can still smell all the rich spices that fill that pho broth. Loaded with fall apart tender pieces of fat and meat while still being rich with spice from the broth.
Then I took the boys to a xoi chien which I have been wanting to show them. This xoi chien is special as it is loaded with all kinds of goodies. Fried egg, triple sauce, pate, and a meat and mushroom fried paste, oh and not to forget the pork floss. Incredible texture, flavor, and an ultimate mind blowing experience.
After a little rest and beating the rain, we went for another sticky rice dish. This time the Xoi ga and xa xiu. These ladies are extremely famous over in Binh thanh for this dish and I now know why. Crispy fried chicken, sweet and juicy char siu, light sticky rice, and an umami packed sauce with a sweat inducing spiciness.
Lastly, snails. This time at a place like I have never been before. The 5 rules of things they don’t have. While they don’t have a menu, we were able to get plenty of delightful seafood dishes to our table. The best part? Probably one of the cheapest snail feast I have ever had.
