Welcome back for another new vr game smash or pass. Today's video shows that INSANE VR graphics aren't enough and we still need a lot more than the Best VR graphics to have a fun vr game. Lot's of passes on today's list so this is a before you buy warning for new vr games like Madison VR, Umurangi Generation, Subside and Whitewater VR. Madison was fun to live stream and it's definitely one of the scariest VR games but not exactly my style. Not the best week for New vr games on Quest 3, PCVR and PSVR2.

Man, we have to get units set up in stores for people to try out to really get VR to the mainstream. Almost every person I have let use my headset loved it and went out and bought one.

I might like Subside just for the scavenger hunt. Whether it is worth it also depends on the price. At $10 I'd take the risk. At $30 I wouldn't take a second glance.

My favorite thing that you do is, even if you did not enjoy a game at all, you say a game or experience might be for somebody but it's not for me. There's so much negativity and so many people looking to hate on things in the gaming and VR communities. Saying something is bad but somebody might like it is a huge breath of fresh air!

I enjoy kayaking irl, so I'm intrigued by Whitewater VR. I know there are time trials, but hopefully the developer can add gate courses and maybe some multiplayer (or at least ghost races like Kayak VR) to spice things up a bit once the virtual tourism aspect has worn off.

Subside looks stunning, and I don't mind simply exploring the environment. Maybe the developer could consider adding a spearfishing mechanic? That could easily become a minigame.

As a graphics strumpet I am still very interested in Subside and Madison, but kayaking or small boats in general are one of the few things that give me motion sickness and are a Pass.

I'm thinking of doing a start-up type deal - a 6 to 12 station VR room for individuals or teams (big screens with feeds, VR treadmills, etc.). Admin by 30 minute increments or something... Wonder how that would go over...

Honestly, I'd probably enjoy both Whitewater VR and Subside, because I'm a sucker for beautiful graphics and I've been more or less forced to become a VR "tourist", because I have to be home so much because of my family's various health issues. But I agree with what @Mepper said about the cost: if they're fairly inexpensive, then I'll likely give them a go. If they're full-game expensive, though... oh, well. Great video as usual, Matteo; I'm really enjoying the new review format. Bless you for having the cajones to give "Madison" a playthrough for your sadistic audience's sake--'cause that's definitely a game I will NOT be trying! 😂

Good graphics (not necessarily photorealistic, but not low res like PS3), is the bare minimum. A game is a game, it needs to have what a game normally has. Most VR games have terrible story lines, or none at all, and feel like demoes or either arcade, very little content for money, and that’s on top of the bad graphics. They all focus on vr mechanics, which is fair enough, but we would not play games in any other environment that just have mechanics. VR needs content for its games, it’s the fun part that is missed. Most games I try, I’d like them for 15 mins, and then it gets boring quickly, cause they don’t vary at all.

@@Gamingwithmatteo311 It def is not like Star Citizen which will be an amazing "sim" to play in VR. Patch 3.23 Star Citizen devs just released has the Vulkan api which was the underlying technology they needed for VR implementation for Star Citizen. Fingers crossed! 🤞I am not sure if you are familiar with Star Citizen but keep your eyes and ears open for information on SC and VR 😎

stupid question! :D Graphics are not everything. A game without working mechanics makes no sense - but a perfect VR Game needs top graphics as well ! The thing is, Whitewater VR and the Scuba demo was made only by a single person!!! Yes, Its that simple to make stunning graphics in VR games, only mobile VR has stopped/blocked that :( ...a nearly photorealistic AW2 has not need that much more man power/resources to develop than the low poly Quest 2/3 Version. But only one version would have been a real masterpiece that would have been played many years from now on in the future!

I’m afraid you don’t get it. It’s not the restoration, it IS DNR’d. you haven’t seen the difference between the disc and the less compressed version, please don’t suggest the differences aren’t significant. They are. And there will be another version coming soon that will hopefully look better. This disc on a large screen reveals shortcomings.

I call it the "age of COD"... Looks pretty but it's just bland. Some people think that pretty graphics is enough though. Im more of the opposite... gameplay 100% beats out graphics. Look at Tactical Assault. Plays super well and is boxy... but the moment youre in it, it doesnt matter anymore. For sure we want both. But with the age of "mobile" vr taking over PCVR it means downgrades because of hardware limitations. So pretty graphics will mean smaller levels/gameplay loops to limit size on mobile headsets.

Decent video. Little confused how a smash or pass includes unfinished demo game. Not saying Subside is going to end up being great we don't know so saying pass on a non finished game doesn't make sense. Keep tweaking this "smash or pass" segment. You almost got it. 👍🏻 Just my 2 cents.
