If even half the stories I've heard about him are true, and I have no reason to think they're not, he's always been nuts. it still amuses me that someone who, at the time, was a well-established writer and knew better actually made a deal that left the date of the material reverting back to him open-ended like that. He's just whiney about it now that they did what a business would do and hold on to it as long as they can get away with it. If he was a newbie I could understand that but he wasn't. Its also kind of amusing to hear someone whose biggest works are all built around recreating characters created by other people whining about what other people do with 'his' characters. It is kind of amusing.

I think likewise you have to take anything Moore says with a Potato sack's worth of salt. He's in the habit of saying or doing provocative things so that people choose sides in the comic industry and lock horns with each other, all the while he's sitting in his armchair raising a toast to Glycon going "look at them argue over little old me!" Drama farming I think they call it. Good writer in terms of potential skill, sheer attention to historical detail, but catch 22 on whether he's a good influence.

Comes across to me as self-absorption. It isn't about him making art that connects with people and in some way affects their lives. It's about him making art for himself. It's all about him, what's in his head, what he wants. It's all about ME.

that's a good way to make art rather than thinking like an a.i. anticipating what people will like. A cook has to taste their own meal and enjoy it first. Alan Morrow's problem is that he is a Satanist. When you embrace Satanism, it screws with all of your perceptions. I'm not sure if he labels himself a Satanist but I read an interview where he claimed to summon a demon in a circle or something. He's Fruit loops.. off his rocker. The Satanic temple are full of people that are just typical leftists. They are embracing evil too I think, but Alan Moore is interested in the Alastair Crowley type stuff. He has always been pos. It is infuriating what he and his acculates did to Steve Ditko simply because Steve was openly apposed leftist world view. People like Ethan still carry on talking points of the slander campaigns of the past of Steve Ditko to this day. It is despicable. Which I would think Ethan would understand what happened & what they did if he studied the history at any length. He was a successful industry leading creator, creating the art and story behind Spider-Man & Docter Strange, to name a couple. They decided to cancel him when he decided to speak publicly about his beliefs. He was Libertarian, Ayan Rand style objectivist. The Watchmen book was specifically designed as a take down of Ditko, his characters and philosophies. The commie media was more than happy to celebrate it as the seminole work of the era to oust the Spider-Man creator. Which work for DC to take down the their competitors flagship character image, by slandering Steve, and it work for Marvel for any further negotiations with him leveraging th public against him regarding rights with his past creation and any future work. Alan sucks and so does everyone else who joins in on the slander/canceling campaign.

@Nightman221k It is despicable. Steve was a honorable man who did not back down on his convictions. He wouldn't even sue the companies like the others on principle. He would answer respectfully when when pressed in interviews on suing for rights from the companies that "he knew what the terms of arguments were & agree to the job for pay upfront.", refusing retroactively dishonor his end of their contract. He acknowledged his worth and suggested that it would be great if Marvel would pay him out of good faith, but he would not sue for past agreements. It has been his eestate that his been suing in recent years since his passing for rights & royalties. It is disgusting what did and still do to someone who is not an aggressor and wanted nothing but to mind his business and promote proper morals & ethics. I hate with a passion Watchmen, I hate what it did to the genre, but I can't lay all the blame on Moore because it goes back further to Claremont & Byrne and what they did to Northstar, unforgivable. The story I believe I read that came straight from an interview with Alan Moore was that DC had made an agreement to publish Watchmen once and then after it went out of print the rights would revert back to Alan and Dave and they would own it after that. Remember, DC thought Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns were going to both be commercial bombs. But as soon as it became a surprise hit they decided to renege by keeping Watchmen in print, in perpetuity. Which, on the one hand, is what you get when you don’t sign a contract and make handshake deals. So Alan said ‘Fine, I’m waking away and never looking back then.’ Very Ditko-esque, btw.

Watchmen is rather boring and pretentious as a comics story, but fascinating as a look inside the head of a hippie sociopath.

he could have given the money to an animal rescue organization to continue their good work but instead of doing that he was so egocentric , narcistic and vile that he dumped the money into an obvious dumpsterfire so that it was all ruined by his own stupidity .

I guess the tribute to Warner Brothers was... humorous?" says Ethan Van Sciver regarding the private screening of the upcoming "Cyberfrog: The Musical" Hope any future adaptation of the beloved fighting frog is done with as much passion and talent as the artist who created him. Uncle Ethan, Alan Moore is from the English Midlands, so his accent is closer to what we call Brummy. A video in which you try to master the Remy accent would be fantastic. You could then move on to Scouse, Jodi and take. I myself am a take, although I speak the regional variant known as dda.

Watchmen was produced in the mid 1980's when self published comics were gaining huge momentum. If ownership of the story and characters was so important to him, why did Moore not just turn in a passable story to DC using the actual Charlton characters and later on self publish the Watchmen story as a creator owned independent title? He could have easily done this.

Don't have time to watch this video now, but from what I've read Moore is planning to give his screen royalties to BLM, not his comic book ones. Given that he appears to loathe most screen adaptations of his work, if that's his choice it's fine. He could have given to a far better cause than those shysters though.

@mjoseph8585 11 месяцев назад
@@TheIcemanModdeler that would definitely be preferable. I don't know enough about the industry or his process though. He always misses his projected finish (by years). At this point, it may be difficult to get "ahead". Say it takes 3 years to produce and deliver. He's just getting RP out now. And the third campaign has gone live, so looking at a 2026 delivery. So he'll be working the next 3 years to put it out, and needs money over those years. And then the cycle repeats. I don't know. Lol. I guess he's content with the process and there are enough to support him, so no incentive to change. I'm not saying he should or should change. Just merely speculating out of my own ignorance lol.
