I was reading a lot of Mark Waid in Middle School/High School. lol That's the thing Waid leaves out: comics were making bank back then. You'd be surprised how a bad story can go mostly unnoticed when the art is friggin' killer. Sprinkle in some tits, have the hero struggle, draw bad guys getting what they deserve, and bada-bing! Loyal customers. Going back to simpler times isn't just for the sake of nostalgia, it's for the bottom line. People like Mark Waid don't want to hear this but the male audience (government name: Target Demographic), aren't invested in the current slop. The Big Two are hurting without them. Almost everyone can agree on this. It's as simple as a pivoting to more male-centric storylines (sprinkling in some T&A won't hurt). Yes, it's the lowest hanging fruit, but it's proven profitability across the board. I'm just an honest Ferengi refusing to sugarcoat the profoundly idiotic sense of business Marvel and DC embraced for nearly a decade. Who knows if they'll even get loyal customers back, but today is a good day to die trying. These morons turned words like "diversity" and "modern audience" into giant red flags by transmogrifying superhero comics into boring PSAs and propaganda pamphlets. Stop turning characters into things they're not, stop making 40 million derivatives, stop trying to "piss off the right crowd," stop hiring activist, and stop suppressing the male gaze. Sadly this is why I haven't bought a Marvel or DC comic in the last few years. I enjoyed good stories not political agendas being forced down my throat.

Gail Simone seems to be remembered as cordial in real life, but certainly a pit viper on the inside. If i have beef with the company i work for, they're the last to know. They find out when i hit them with a two weeks notice and my list of reasons I'm leaving. Usually crap pay and terrible hours.
