''Inside'' and ''Martyrs'' are my favorite French horror movies made since 2000, although I think the latter is Canadian/French production. Another great Canadian horror movie is ''Les Affemés'' (2017), a little gem, with an unique take in the zombie genre. Two French horror movies, that are still on my most wanted watch list are ''Baxter'' (1989) and ''Saloum'' (2021).
@@therobw I've got the dvd (Dutch release), first time I liked it, but over the years, can't really put my finger on it, that I don't like it anymore. But then again, don't take my opinion too serious, maybe you'll like it, and it is also pretty heavy stuff....

I admit I was one of those who mentioned this movie to you...brutal and well made Definitely Now we have to delve a little into the world of Gaspar Noe, but take it easy! maybe you can start with Enter the Void or Climax. So glad you watched Matrys, and High Tension. I recommend Irreversible, but it's brutal on another level. A friend lent it to me on DVD, and after I watched it, I wanted to Frisbee it off his head. But it introduced me to French cinema. Keep up the great reactions.

Yeah I got bored and said screw it. In about a month the length will be right where I like it. I think Terrifier probably had more gore technically but nowhere near did it have the impact that the violence here did. Does that make sense?
Great film. Balances realistic violence with this dreamlike (nightmare) dialogue and behavior. It’s unfortunate that these guys never made a good film after this one.

Another French horror movie that came out at the same time as this, Martyrs, and High Tensions is Frontier(s). It's pretty brutal like the other French movies.
Man I think this is the first movie that I did not enjoy xD it had everything I can not watch: death of animals, pregnancy loss/abuse and torture. Yet still was nice to see you :) I hope you had a merry christmas Rob
this movie is brutal the effect are really really good but i have to say that was too brutal to me i like gore and things like that but bc of the pregnant women that was too much specially the cut the baby out scene ..
My brother's birthday was Christmas Eve. But we grew up Jehovah's Witnesses, so it didn't matter about the presents and celebrating either one. Later on, my mom made a point of giving him presents on his bday and on Christmas.
My husband’s birthday is Christmas Eve. All of his siblings were always mad because he got lots of presents on his birthday and the very next day on Christma…they hated him. 😮😅
This movie was okay I'd give it a six out of 10 the acting was good and the effects were awesome but I just felt like it was just being brutal just to be brutal sometimes with no real Rhyme or Reason
I see your point. I do think there’s value in a movie like this. There was a great amount of craftsmanship in the filmmaking and as a straight up home invasion movie I thought it was suspenseful and spooky. Definitely not for everyone though. Thanks for commenting though JJ 🤙🏻🤙🏻

I really enjoyed it. 😅 But in my defense, I didn't know about your cat, when I first recommended this one. 🤭😔🙈 But when you mentioned "cold opening", there is another FANTASTIC movie, that I fell back in love with, with a cool cold opening called "The Hole". It's not that scary or gory. It's messed up, but I think a GREAT moody thriller. Just like The Invitation, but probably even better. They both rank pretty high on my list. But The Hole COMPLETELY changed my perspective on Thora Birch ..... 🫢😳😳🤯 Plus, you get a topless Keira Knightley..... If that helps. 😅 But I don't wanna spoil too much. 👍
Incompetence: the movie. I appreciate the effects but when I watched this movie I was beyond frustrated with everyone involved. Great reaction nonetheless!
