INSIDE a $5.3 MILLION BEACHFRONT MALIBU RETREAT 

Anyone who knows Malibu knows this section is the most vulnerable to crazy storm activity. The homes on this stretch are drenched in salt water and salt air, dank underneath all the time....this is where decks rot and collapse. Those who just HAVE to have a beachfront home can acquire one on this beach for the least amount of investment, but it's a monastic commitment to continuous maintenance. There used to be a beach on this stretch 60 years ago, now it's gone, and low tide isn't much different. Climate change will come in full fury to this beach first.

I wouldnt want to live on that beach or many of the malibu beaches.Those beaches are all eroding and disappearing and the homes will be taken by the ocean in 10 years or so.The homes on this beach shake with the pounding waves-you may like that.Open a window or doors for a short period and your walls will be covered in salt water mist.Maintenance is huge.Salt water pounding your house every second is very destructive.There isnt much beach left because of sea rise.All you see on that beach are the pilons supporting the homes. Those massive boulders that you see under the house are supppsed to hold back the ocean.I would not buy anything on most california beaches because of rapid sea level rise.Broad Beach,Malibu Colony,Malibu Road,Big Rock are disappearing.

With all due respect, that was like the singular most annoying home tour I have ever suffered through. I'm trying to be subjectively helpful here, but the edits were forced/choppy, the way things were described by the talent, especially the "Beverly Hills Guy", was, in a word, overdramatic and too chummy to be taken seriously. And the bits about the soap and the orchid, and so forth were simply off-track and a bit uncomfortable/awkward. It all made you feel like you had to endure it all just to see the home. Some of the music "inserts" were intrusive, for lack of a better word. It all comes off like a couple of frat boys trying to pitch the house to another frat boy. With 111k subscribers, I will assume there is a market for this type of presentation somewhere. But, IMHO, if it were my house, I would be appalled at my home being presented for sale/rent in this format ... especially at this pricepoint and in this location. I guess, at the end of the day, homes like these sell themselves, so none of this matters anyway. I'd bet that hanging at the pub with these guys would be a hoot, but I'd also bet that many of the folks that could afford such a home would be turned off by this format of a sales pitch. It's my opinion. That and 3 bucks will get you a small cup of coffee. But, I wanted to give my honest reaction. Best of luck to you. It is a beautiful home.
