Thanks, Olli, another interesting video. I was amazed by the high level of automation. On the bright side, this is why China wouldn't have to worry about stagnating or even declining population. The Chinese economy can continue to grow in the future.
@@陈史钱 This is again a very smart move by China. Having lifted over 800 million people out of poverty, now moving on to bring the entire country to "moderate prosperity" is a very good development. The population will probably stagnate by 1.5 billion and then reduce in the next couple of decades. A strong focus on AI, automation and infrastructure will help China to thrive and do well even with slightly less people in an aging population.
@@XX-cm3mf Not necessarily, 100s of millions of Chinese came out of povery in recent years. If they now will move on to moderate wealth as described by Pres. Xi the Chinese economy will have enough potential to make up for the loss in population.
Well let’s be honest here, labor is also cheap over there compared to US and Western Europe. Although it’s true that recently the wages have risen significantly.
Thanks for showing us, International viewers how one of the Chinese shoes factory made theirs! I bought many of mine from mail order catalogue, made in China, shoes, bags n clothes. They are cheaper n very good workmanship. Fits well too! The finished packaging is pretty neat as well. Keep up the good work, China, Yiayou!!!!🙏👍💥🇨🇳
I remember being in one of the lost places in Germany and it was a old shoe manufacturer and they had dozens of workers and pictures laying around, it was a massive huge place. Projecting that on China with new Technology and you get a massive output on manufacturing those shoes. But cheap also means there might be more waste as in the past more people tend to repair their shoes. Shoe repair will die out but there are still handy crafters in the city which can help you.
@@greengreenpear380 somtime they just get you a new replacement for shoe if the shoe damage or broken in the promise time, like they promise will last at least one year.
Thank you for showing this. In Malaysia, barechested workers sit on low stools, and hammer shoes by hands, and 4,000 pairs output per day is unimaginable because this is their monthly output capacity. This particular factory in China is a 3-nm chip manufacturing process of the shoe world. Amazing.
Hey Oli I understand the part where machines will put people out of work but if you look at it in a different way, it could also mean the company can produce even more shoes with their current work force
Interesting glimpse into their shoe manufacturing technology. Love from Pakistan. Less advanced nations still need much manual before catching up. An eye opener thanks. 🇵🇰❤️🇨🇳
Less advanced countries will not have a chance to complete with China in mass production. With the advance of automation, most of the people in the world including China will not be able to find a job. Unemployment will become a new normal.
I'm so disappointed after watching this video. I thought you would show us how the forced labour in China is happening. Robot doesn't count as forced labour you know.
People assume that because China produces more per year…it means lower quality Unlike the West China maintains quality while increasing efficiency as the West focuses on cheaper alternatives and offering less pay which negatively influence the quality of their goods.
Or one worker can do five times the amount of work. It's not replacing but rather increasing efficiency and productivity. You can't afford to lose workers if you want to get bigger; after all, they're skilled, familiar and knowledgeable with the process.
Oli, tell the shoe company to use ''ultra boost'' foam technology. I only wear this now because its super soft and bouncy, good for walking or running.
Something like the foam technology only possessed by nike, adidas and li-ning. I don't think this company will produce running shoe or basketball shoe, otherwise they will be the target by these three giants.
If you can't replace the five workers then increase their wages and increase the prices of shoes for the customers shopping at zara in this current inflation increasing world.
Great video. Much like self service checkouts in supermarkets for each worker a machine takes a job a service worker who maintains the machines gain new work.
One more interesting place for your next visit is Foshan Lighting where you are able to film the making of the glass LED Tube or used to be the glass Fluorescent Tube.
Replacing robots with robots is hell for workers but good for the company and good for customers because it keeps prices down even if theres a huge inflation increase
The factory is so cool! I have bought lots of clothes and shoes from everywhere here in China...physical stores,Tao bao,Internet.. But I have to say that most of the times even if I pay around 300-400 for a shirt it doesn't last as much as my good shirts from brands like Lacoste or Pollo or Adidas.. Definitely needs a little bump in quality. But eventually we can get there. China does have quality but often comes at 3-4 times or more comparing to a western country.
@@袁奥斌 Prices and styles are great. But lack of foot health and comfort. I bought a few pairs for the looks, couldn’t walk or stand in them for long period of time.
@@ceciliac2225 Some good Chinese brands cannot be seen in west society. Regarding to sport brands, Lining, Anta, Xtep they all produce super comfortable shoes, however, you never see them in EU country.
Hi I watch your channel Best wishes for your father But that’s not what this comment is about in the grain of Gweilo60 I was wondering what camera and that lens is it a portrait macro 1000mm? My wife if from Nanning FYI It’s the camera and lens when in a restaurant for duck with Living in China guy sorry forget his name Thanks
I wish I knew you were going there. I would have had you ask them why they don’t make more size 46 shoes. So hard to find here and I’m sure some Chinese people have big feet too.
I noticed many of the machines are stollen technology of Brother BAS programmable stitchers and Pfaff knock off post and flatbed machines. The CAM cutter is actually old technology used in the west for over 25 years. If you really want to see a nice factory, look at Italian shoe plants. Total work of art. Even the contractors for Zara shoes have even higher technology. But these low end plants are now using more technology to catch up, which explains why the unemployment rate in China at 20%.
What your mean "stollen technology"? They bought all those machines from foreign Companies, what's the problem? Also stop believe the bullshit made by western media, the unemployment rate is 5.1% in China. The epidemic has caused factories in many Southeast Asian countries to fail to operate normally, so Chinese factories have twice to three times or more orders than usual. Therefore, the factory needs more workers. Think about it, how can there be an unemployment rate of 20%.
Point being, this 'miracle' of ultra modern robotic manufacture is actually the industry norm already, competitive advantage is bought not through better technology or efficiency but cheap labour and poor working conditions.
