I am an engineer but terribly afraid of local semi dry rivers also...just forget about high seas/oceans. Crossing/flying over oceans means complete submission. 😀😂😀😂😀😂😀😂😀😂😀😂😀
You have not mention your rank, how many crew in the whole Engine Department, most important, because these machineries are nothing w/out the crews operating them.anyway thank you,I refresh my memory,I'm an oiler of more than 10 yrs and promoted later on as electrician in the cruise ship.and now a retired sailor,2012 when I retired.
I'm a third assistant engineer, and we have a total of 8 crew in our engine department - C/E, 1AE,2AE, 3AE(me), Fitter, two oilers and one wiper. Thank you for watching and congratulations on your retirement!
Who owns this ship? I noticed they like to paint a lot of equipment light green? Are these types of shops always this clean? Thanks for the cool videos.
Wow so interesting and so beautiful, i study maritime engineer in a university and this type of videos is very important to show all the machinery there are inside in the engine room. what do you recomend when i state on board as a engine cadet? Regards from Peru
@@cambo2910 Because you would need very big electric motors to power the pumps which consume a lot of electric power. Keep in mind that sometimes during discharging (if it is a fast discharge) you will run all four turbines ( 3 COPT + 1 TCPT) and on top of that usually one or both ballast pumps are running. For example, only to start one ballast pump you need to have approx. 700kw of available load in order to avoid preferential trip. So, if all the pumps were being driven by an electric motor, you would need 5 or even more Diesel Generators running in parralel just to maintain the power grid stable. Also, the rate of discharge is changing during the whole period, with steam turbines you can regulate the rpm's and increase or decrease the rate of dischargs, with electric motors you cannot.
The purpose of a boiler is heating of fuel oil, once the main engine operated,it uses heavy fuel(hfo)because hfo more cheaper than diesel fuel,so a boiler is needed for heating.
Waste oil are contaminated oil residues or sludge from machineries which is unsuitable for service. It usually comes from purifiers, backwash filter drains, etc. Then, waste oil can be used as fuel to the burner of the incinerator.
