The 309th Aerospace Maintenance And Regeneration Group is located on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tuscon AZ and is the largest aircraft storage facility in the world. Charged with storing and maintaining all the surplus aircraft from all federal agencies in the United States, the folks here do not appreciate it being called the "airplane graveyard". The majority of the assets stored are not yet being scrapped, and can be made operational on rather short notice. What a truly strange place to visit.

If you'd take one of each plane on that field and put it in a big building, you'd have an amazing museum.

The PIMA Air and Space Museum, right next door, is basically exactly this, and so much more. It's from where this tour I filmed is actually organized, and as far as I'm concerned it's a must see for anyone in the Tucson area!

Do they leave the squadron identification on them, if so when you are there look for a VF-74 F-4 Phantom. And send me a picture please...... Old memories.

According to the tour guide, most of the remaining F-4s are being refurbished as drones for target practice (among other things) and routinely get shot out of the sky just for training. Some would call it a waste, I call it a spectacular way to go out! I didn't pay much attention to markings, but if you watch closely in HD maybe you can pick some out...

"the folks here do not appreciate it being called the "airplane graveyard". Is false. It is a cool name and people here do appreciate and visit it along with the air and space museum. You can appreciate this without undercutting the people who live here.

+Mz Gus Chavez "You can appreciate this without undercutting the people who live here" - FUCKING LOL! Over-sensitive much? What kind of crybaby would EVER take that as an insult? If you go through life looking for retarded shit to be offended by, you're gonna have a bad time. Maybe the people around Tucson in general call it the graveyard, but I was actually there and talked to people who work inside, and the Air Force and civilians who work there definitely call it the BONEYARD. Aircraft do not go there to die and be scrapped, it is a storage facility. I was told "this isn't a graveyard" about six times in one hour.

I wonder how much all of them parked. All of these planes are worth 35 billion dollars.

At 3:35, is that the Boeing they used to test their laser that could shoot ICBM's out of the sky?

Indeed it is! Good eyes! A completely unique one-off like a lot of planes there.

Due to all the extra equipment needed to make laser operational this plane could not fly more tha a couple oh hours. It was extremely heavy because the cooling system , it needed many operators who should be highly trained. Because the cargo capacity was used for laser and cooling system ver little amount of fuel could be carry. Theres a documentary about this plane in Wings or Great Planes tv show

In the 3:55 I found several F-5, the same used in Mexico! Why they not reuse these planes and refurbish and sell to Mexico?....... or why dont destroy completelly ann the planes and create another planes or ships?

Imagine the Billions of dollars these aircraft cost. It would have been the value of many hospitals and free medical care for US citizens .
