Inside an ABANDONED Funeral Home | FAMILY LIVED INSIDE

Built in 1900, this majestic building was originally a funeral parlor in this small, southern town. For years it served as a place to prepare the dead for burial until the 1950’s, when a family purchased the building and made it their home. But as the years went by, the family slowly all moved away leaving the widowed grandmother, the last known family member, to live in the house alone.
Since her death in the early 2000’s, this house has been abandoned with everything left inside. And as monument to our calamitous nature to forget the past, this house is still barely standing... though not for much longer.
So join me and let’s explore this place together and see what we uncover

That is really sad to see someone’s lifetime left like that. So much family history. The contrast between this home & the “new” homes in the neighborhood. Do the neighbors want this place torn down? I do love that you try to look at everything. I love that bell tower or whatever its considered. Stay safe out there. Love your content
@JeremyXplores

The neighbors were very nice and welcoming. They were all just as curious of what is inside as I was. They had a ton of questions about the place when I crawled out of the building haha! The tower on the house is amazing. The wood was too rotted for me to take a look inside. I was genuinely afraid that the front part of the house was going to collapse if I took a wrong step... especially when I was upstairs. Thanks so much for the love and support! And thanks for the questions!

I love these videos! In every one I watch, I feel such sadness. I don’t know what it is about abandoned places where time stands still that is gives off an essence of grief. Time standing still when the rest of us are moving forward, evolving, it’s strange when we see a place in dust, untouched. But there is a raw beauty to it. I digress. I love that you post these!

I can just hear the kids screaming, running up and down the stairs... a family once lived...in this house. Wow, I would love to own a couple of those cathedral windows! (I live in a house built in 1900) I look at the doors, all the trim, not to mention the antique furniture still remaining. Hopefully the descendants will recognized their pictures, and come get their stuff before it all caves in. This was a good one!

I can’t believe family photos are still left behind. That’s just sad. It’s like they were once living in the house and vanished, but the house still somewhat stands as a shrine. What a beautiful home to be left to crumble. Watching your videos always makes me afraid your going to fall through the floor.

My first time watching you. Seeing family history left behind made me think about where the family is , and if they are still living. Material things that one person may cherish may not be important to others. It is said that we can't take it with us. We accumulated so many things , things that we think are a part of our life due to our history. It is up to others to make the decision if that history an important to them . I felt sad looking at part of this grandmother's life. I imagine that she was comfortable while she lived . I can only hope that she wasn't lonely. I enjoyed watching this episode. Thank you

I wonder why people leave their homes and their belongings. Such a beautiful house, they don’t build them like that anymore. My husband and I restored a historical home from 1895 and it was completely worth it. The electrical I think was called a peg and post with sketchy wiring. Definitely some of the first homes with electricity In the area. Also, the plumbing was terra-cotta pipes!

People most of the time don't leave things by choice. The person possibly was the spouse left and when everybody grows up and moves away you or your spouse die and the one left may die alone or in an elder care facility. It's the responsibility of the remaining family to sort out and discard left belongings or donate.

It looks as if they did have very happy lives, they did well. A lot of evidence left behind to show that but it also looks as if most, if not all, died off and this is probably why it's been left like this, to go back to the earth as we all do. Memories and all. It's bittersweet.

Ha Jeremy, you always do such a great job displaying abandon homes, and you, like me wonder what happened to the families which lived there. I also wanted to mention; not only the way you choreograph each home, but also how you narrate the video with a quite, soft voice, and try to scope everything so delicately, and with such care, this make you the very best in your field of captivating old homes. I also grew-up in a place where there were old 1800's homes, and I was the same way. Thank you for this, you are the best!

Sad though, it’s as if her children and grand children just left, never to return. When my Grandmother passed away, our entire family of 60+ met for her funeral. We each were given an opportunity to pick a few sentimental mementos. So, I wonder, why it appears as if no one cared enough to pack this woman's belongings…. Literally left everything to rot…. Why? Any additional information available based off the "Know your Guard" article? Thompson? Love your content. I use to explore abandoned places as a child … great job, Jeremy!❤
@cyndavi6655
@cyndavi6655 Год назад
The people who lived there did very well for themselves. Hard working, raised a family, one joined the military, probably fought in a war or two. After all that, all those memories, a good life there and they die off and this is what becomes of our lives here. It's bittersweet. I wish I could buy that property & salvage as much as possible. That would be a great undertaking but I think worthwhile.

Cities should allow tiny home movement access to these abandoned homes to retrieve materials floors; windows; fireplace mantles/ fronts + its unique cast iron plates, vintage furniture such as the semi 4 poster bed frame in the bedroom! Etc. It go a long way for the city to start a program like that; it help the city reduce the abandon homes unsightly not eye candy, issue. And + it really help out the tiny home community; as it is often in search of materials. Win/ win. Nice find good Sir

Darlin those pieces of furniture that you keep calling "Dressers", those are actually Vanities. They usually had a little bench or little chair with them. The lady would have her makeup, hair stuff, perfumes, etc.. That's where she would get prettied up for church or social events. Just thought you'd wanna know. I had one as a teenager, it was my Grandmother's, so it was already an antique. I never knew what happened to it after I moved out of my parents house. Mine was dark wood, oval mirror, and a red velvet bench.
