@@zoot7981The one in g&b has very heavy winter which explains why snows take up 90% of the map and also the ONLY innacurate part is that the fortress is Not that very very close to the shore
@@BlockGamingOfficialYT I wasn’t talking about the snow, and don’t act like the only inaccurate part is it being next to the shore. I don’t nitpick, I love guts and blackpowder, but in no way are the creations **100** percent accurate. Just look at it on google maps or something dude
Nice video, Im sure your confused about all these comments mentioning zombies... For some context, Theres a Vardohus Fortress objective/endless map in a Roblox game "Guts & Blackpowder" which is a Napoleonic Wars era zombie game
Wow this was a cool find. What an awesome fortress! We are still here, have a LOT of your vlogs to catch up on. Work and life well gets busy sometimes. You know we enjoy your videos and we will catch up! Keep in touch. Talk more soon. This whole trip made us jealous!!! We are working on a big adventure of our own for this summer. Stay tuned to see where we go too!
Great tours! Tusen takk! I’ve wandered that fortress several times, at our brief evening stop on Hurtigruten aurora cruises. At 4:43 there’s a map showing the areas of the world that could see the rare transit of Venus across the Sun in 1769. Nations sent observers to the far corners of the world to observe the event for a wide baseline, to measure the distance to the Sun. Father Maximilian Hell (!) was sent to Vardo, a site about as far north as they could find. James Cook got the choice site, Tahiti, on a voyage where he found Botany Bay, beginning the British settlement of Australia. Skol!
Vardø fortress is indeed an unexpected treasure! I hope you didn’t forget the “Witch hunt” memorial just around the corner…? Now up for the breathtaking drive to Hamningberg, enjoy👋
When I was there 20 yrs ago the islands only tree was at the Fortress, it was wrapped up during winter to both protect it so to keep it alive, I was told by my Uncle John that it was the responsibility of the soldiers at the Fortress to look after it. Cheers from Australia for posting . 👍
@@T1DWanderer You did not report on the tree! A conscript brought a rowan to Vardøhus, and they used to box it in for the winter, and only expose it to the elements in the spring. /
The old tradition, turfroof have a number of functional advantages. Like, it's cool inside in summer and insolating in winter. And it's soundproof. You don't hear a sound of the rain. It's also fairly maintenancefriendly.
As a Guts And Blackpowder player, I feel so bad for the people who make these videos, because it’s evident that the people who do make these videos want nothing more than to show the beauty and history of these places to the world, but all the comments are just something to the effect of: “Dude, the Sappers aren’t ready yet!” “Just like G&B…” “Sure would be a shame if there were zombies here…” Although I find it funny, it is kind of a shame that’s all the attention these kind of videos get nowadays, considering the effort and lengths people go to to create these videos.
