Everything in her home means something to her. Her mother’s ash trays was meaningful to her because it was her mother’s. She made sure her home feels like “home” rather than a place to show off. I love it.

Her sister said she felt enormous pressure from the fame and success she had achieved, and was to embarrassed/ashamed to get the help she needed. I love reading comments coming from people that are shocked by this apartment. Some say that the apartment is like a flea market, others say that it is junky. If you were, by any case, living in Europe (or European) (I'd say mostly France or Italy) this style is a definition of real class - when you can make a chaos look good. That's exactly what Kate did. The apartment doesn't look cheap, it breathes and exhales art and cosiness. Amazing and great! I love the fact that there is not a TV in the room. Great, just great!

If you ever see her layouts, ads & Graphic art it's ALWAYS filled with stuff from her collections (Jewelry, tapestry, vintage paper & textiles). She collects stuff from all over the world to inspire her collections, portfolio, editorials & her fashion shows.

Hearing of Kate's passing, and then seeing this video, shows that looks can be deceiving. She looked happy, fulfilled, successful, and like she had the world at her fingertips. It shows you that you can never know what demons someone is struggling with in private. _Please, get help if you need it. I could watch this again and again - I love it. She's a wife and Mom and that really comes through. I've hung up and taped up my daughters' artwork, so it was fun to see that Kate has, as well. Elegant, sophisticated, and very personal. So refreshing to see that it's not the typical impersonal, overly-chic and boring celebrity's home. I'm impressed!

Money, possesions, fame, and a daughter didn't bring her the peace of mind I'm sure she yearned for. She must've had so much inner fears and pain and desperation to do this. Very sad. This for anyone who's had someone in their lives lead them down a dark path. People close to you can lead you to suicide. If you're in a relationship where someone takes advantage of your vulnerabilities to make you feel powerless get out!! Doesn't matter if it's your mother, if you stick around they will drain your energy and reduce your self worth until you can't ask for help when you need it. Don't succumb to societal pressure to maintain bad relationships, stay away from toxic people. We spend too much time trying to insulate ourselves from getting hurt instead of calling out the psychopaths who hurt us and kicking them out of our lives. Start again with better people, they are out their.

So sad, that "black hole" in the center of the living room. Bright colors, beautiful beach and woods landscapes cheer me up better. Love the fact that she had her daughter's art and notes about, that was the one bright spot.

All quirky and fun stuff on the periphery and then smack dab in the middle of the room is a big black hole. Infact, the first thing we notice when she opens and closes the main door is a big black hole. No wonder her designs are so light and clean. When you can't control the darkness inside, you usually try to fix it on the outside. Even the black hole at first looks like a simple, non complicated piece before you realize how its right in the centre.

It just goes to show depression doesn’t care if you’re successful, rich, popular. It doesn’t matter if you’re the richest or the poorest person. Desperation is a REAL!!!! My Uncle took his life due to depression. People need to stop focusing on she had everything she should be happy. Desperation is a chemical imbalance in the brain.

It's not a "Chemical Imbalance". There is no test for that because it simply is a made up term used specifically so that they can prescribe dangerous drugs...Depression is situational, no matter what that "Situation" is.

I thought about her, today as soon it’s going to be two years that she’s gone already. I think her interior reflects everything from her and him and there’s nothing wrong with having something that might seem sad to some. Happiness, sadness are all part of the life and having a mixture of both display in the house is not bad. RIP and I hope Andy and Bea are also in a good place now.

I miss her. I visit this video to hear her voice and remember her, this way. Her ways and style have been very inspirational to my own life...she was one of a kind...

I felt the same way. I would never own a piece like that. It looks like she could fall into that black hole. When she said direct, she probably meant truthful. Oh, and did you see the small painting with the little red girl with the darkness over her head? That one may have been exposing what was inside of her too...sad. RIP Kate Spade

I have many KS bags because she has been my favorite for a long time. It was very sad to hear the news of her passing. Its a strange feeling to look at my KS merchandise now. May she now find the peace she most obviously needed.

I watched this last week then I woke up the next day n heard that she was gone. I hated her space, I thought it was cluttered n confused so now I've returned for a second look n I realize that it truly did tell you who she was. RIP beautiful lady. 🌹🌹🌹

Beautiful home and art collection! The black round painting or "black hole" negative commenters keep referring to I think has nothing to do with her depression. It was a chic modern abstract focal piece. Kinda fab actually and the first thing I noticed. Juxtaposed quite nicely above the antique fireplace. She was a design genius. Her home was warm, artistic, eclectic and a beautiful mix of modern and antique like some of the best European homes. I lover her salon style of hanging art. We will never really know what happened. But yes clearly she was heart broken and distraught from the breakup of her marriage. May she rest in peace.

I can not believe the comments .Obviously none of the people that referred to Kate's apartment being a hoarder house have not been in very artistic and wealthy homes .She was a collector of art and was a designer , her house was not a hoarders house.Everything today is desposibul today and minimalist nothing but trash nobody today has class anymore .Kate had class.God bless

Khanh Ho. Her housekeeper did that and also found her body . I am so surprised at all her belongings . I know I hoard things to fill my loneliness being a widow . It really just cluttered the mine and doesn't bring true happiness. So sorry for her daughter.

I liked Kate looked like me. She is so relatable. She has allowed herself to age and mixed and curated family and art. I'm fortunate enough to marry an artist. We are middle class. We curated a similar look by trading with artists, me with a keen eye for dumpster diving.

Yes maybe she does have a lot of things in her apartment a total cluttered space but I try to turn this in a positive way. Every true artist who enjoy designing new things and have passion for it always put there love in to it designing it and especially there time as she does I think she make a very sophisticated and elegant piece of art and always make us happy with it.
