I have just returned from Beirut, Batroun, and Tripoli and totally agree with your superlatives of this diminutive but historically rich country! the Lebanese people are invariably friendly and helpful and I found traveling around totally safe. Batroun is a hidden gem with wine bars, limestone guest apartments overlooking plazas, great food, all of which are easily found in this small town. Be sure to try the exquisite lemonade at Hilmi's!

The economy is in the ground, but it's completely safe to visit, and a foreigner (especially American or European) won't find anything expensive because their currency has high value in Lebanon. Also, if you plan to visit, definitely find a guide who knows what's what, you can totally go to the wrong places and not have as much of a good experience.

I visited more than 80 countries and Lebanon is on the top list of my favourite 3 countries. I feel safer in Lebanon than in London or New York.

Beirut is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. What more could you want from a city? beautiful food, beautiful women, beautiful music, beautiful climate, helpful people, beautiful sea, beautiful nature. It's a sadness that these beautiful people are going through such hardship. Maybe it's because of Allah's justice. So much trouble against all the beauty given to those people. The west wants to control their people that's why I was in Lebanon around 5 yrs ago I meet people from USA and western Europe they go there every year I ask them how come they told me they have more freedom to enjoy and respect each other that middle east countries has more to offer than western Europe and USA and the good thing is they still live like old days they go and visit each other and have lunch with the whole family instead of been on mobil phone
