Go inside the Broncos' huddle in the mid-'90s to hear sideline conversations between John Elway and newly elected Ring of Famer Mike Shanahan. Subscribe to Broncos » / broncos
As a long time Bronco fan, I was heartbroken that they got their rings...AFTER changing their uniforms. I stuck with them those final two years ONLY because of my admiration for Elway. I have been furious over this move for the last 27 years, and will go to my GRAVE cursing whoever made the decision...
Videos like this can make a grown man cry.. how I miss Broncos winning so naturally, effortlessly, sometimes flawlessly. Championship football At its finest..#orangecrush4lifer
@@casteine yeah the Broncos are in the midst of big changes big big changes but we have a tendency of saying the same thing every couple of years this time I think it's going to work case and point 2012 to 2015 the Peyton Manning experience
Great to see the interaction - and huge respect for how Mike analysed and adjusted. I would love to see similar videos with Reeves, McDaniels, Fox, Kubes, VJ, Fangio.... I suspect that McDaniels and Kubes would be interesting to watch.
Mike Shanahan is the only high profile coaching hire I can recall that actually worked out BETTER than fans expected. People are always optimistic when they get a great coach. But the optimism usually fades, since the coach generally made his name on a team that was more talented than the new squad he's joining. But with Shanahan, everything was like out of a storybook. I just figured he'd help Elway pad his stats for his final years before retirement, and maybe make the playoffs a time or two...the prospect of winning rings really didn't occur to me...and to get TWO....Like I said, it was like a fairy tale...a magical time for Broncos fans...the golden era...I just regret that they didn't get their rings til they had changed their uniforms...When I think of the Broncos, I'll always see those fiery Orange Crush jerseys...
I think their best chance for a third was after the back to back rings...if they could have somehow talked Elway into coming back, or even gotten Steve Young to sign on for one year...but after John left, they looked like a whole different team...and just like that, the era had come and gone.
@tgriffin3059 I remember the Steve Young to Denver a lot closer than many think. Mike Shanahan went after him hard, but Young turned him down...at least one more super bowl if he decides different.
@@casteine Yeah, I think that would have been one of the very few times that a big name free agency signing would have gone EXACTLY according to expectation. To have a quarterback of that caliber, reunited with the coach and system in which he had his best years....and with the roster still in place that had just repeated...it would have been the ultimate match made in Heaven(or at least, the football equivalent!)
@@amandavaldez2462 Yes Kyle has only made it to 2 Super Bowls & an NFC championship game in the last 4 seasons plus been the OC on another SB team. He might have some deficiencies but he doesn’t “suck.” A lot of teams & coaches have been beat by the Andy Reid & the Chiefs.
Sorry, dude...but they were playing FOOTBALL....Mahommes never gets hit....Elway played a MAN'S game...he didn't care if you hit him all day...he'd still make the plays to pull most games out...Mahommes is good by today's standards...but to play a man's game, you have to be able to TAKE punishment as well as dish it out...
@@tgriffin3059 John " the tooth" Elway couldn't carry mahomes jock. As for a mans game lol. I believe a Joe Montana played in the elway years. Never heard of elway being referred to as greatest ever. Montana was, and Brady replaced him. Now mahomes is being talked about as greatest ever a few years into his career. Elway was teaching new ways for a GM to destroy a team. The tooth is riding with russ!!!
@@cliffwan4470 Ever heard of Bill Walsh? He considered trading Montana for Elway...Elway had everything Montana had, but was bigger, more physically talented, and far more durable. But Mahommes? He's got an arm, sure, but he plays in a day and age where everything has been softened...it's a woman's game today...And don't make comments about Mahommes' jock...you make yourself look like a fool...Mahommes is like a mere school boy next to Elway...As for his role as GM....he brought a title to the Broncos, and another title appearance.....when you couple that with his role ON THE FIELD, no man in history has ever meant more to a franchise. In all fairness, you show yourself to be a boy...how old are you? I feel bad, like I'm breaking a cripple or something....you'd best stay out of the way til your learn something about football..
