As the Broncos celebrate Super Bowl XXXII this weekend, John Elway relives the most iconic play from that game: "The Helicopter." Subscribe to Broncos » / broncos
@@scottnepereny8170 HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAA!!! OMG, what a fuckin dork! "We're a nation!" Such a sports geek. And right---you're the "biggest part" of what they do. I can just see inside an executives meeting in Denver back in 2014: "Okay guys, we can either add 10,000 more seats to the stadium to get more fans---because everybody knows they're the most important piece....or we can sign Peyton Manning?" You would've voted more seats.
I'm British and 46 years old and Elway made me become a Broncos fan. When the NFL was shown in the UK, I loved Elway and how he played the game. I sat up as a 9 year old kid in the early hours watching Broncos games due to Elway. I saw us lose so many Superbowls and to see us get there when we won them finally with John, I have to admit I cried across the pond. Twice well, icing on the cake. I've sat up watching our highs and lows, recently, I say recently, but you know what I mean with Peyton and other QB's. As Broncos fans, nothing comes easy for us, we make it tough, but it's why I love the club. I've never been to Mile High or the States, but I'm hoping someday to go to a game. I love the Broncos and the fans
If you're a foreigner, I can assure you, I've watched the game my whole life-54 years-and John Elway was in a class by himself. I've seen every Hall of Fame qb since the early 70's, and only Staubach and Montana can even be MENTIONED in the same class(and Johnny Unitas from the earlier era).
Dude....Iconic af! I’ll never forget the feeling of this play and the victory! Suffered through my childhood with the awful SB losses whilst displaced here in Browns country getting made fun of like crazy. That victory came and it all disappeared! Thanks for your dedication, Mr. Elway! GO BRONCOS!!✌🏼
Dude…. I been here in Wisconsin my whole life. Caught orange crush fever in 77’ and never looked back. Listened to packer fans give me crap for all the SB losses. They can’t say bleep to me anymore 😜
@@AltezzaGang15 Really? The year after Elway retired, they came back with Davis and started 0-4 before he was injured. But WITHOUT Terrell Davis, they continued to be among the league's best running teams...but never a serious winner. Gosh, wonder why that was? Davis flourished when he was part of the best offense in football. For most of his career, Elway WAS the offense.
This was the very play that captivated me into loving this team. This was the first game I ever watched and I picked the Broncos because of their colors, I have loved this team ever since. Elway will forever be Legend
I still have this SB and the 98 Season SB against the Falcons on vhs. My high school days. Been a Bronco fan since 89. That's still my favorite SB victory for the squad.
The greatest to ever play the game. Watching Elway play was always a thrill. You always knew the next play could blow you away. The quarterbacks today don't have half his toughness. If he had played under these rules, all of his stats would be doubled. Even watching the old highlights, I still feel the excitement. He was just fantastic.
This video was awesome. Elway you and Payton and Von Miller will always be my favorite players!!!!! Each one of you three exemplify what the best will always be!!!!!!
Legendary play and game. However we in Broncos Country are tired of living in our past success. Bring our Broncos pride back. Bring back what this franchise is all about. Winning games and winning culture.
Johnny that was the greatest play in the Denver broncos history the greatest play of your career and the greatest player of NFL history thank you thank you thank you Johnny
Broncos were never out of a game with John at QB. Today's QB’s are too focused on their social profile and their brand. I’ll never forget the helicopter and the feeling of that first Super Bowl Championship! Great game…legendary.
I had two reasons to support Denver. I have been a Broncos fan since watching Elway as a teen. The other is that I grew up in Minnesota following the Vikings. One of my teams, the Broncos, facing a team that I hate, NFC Central/North rival, the Packers. I watched this Super Bowl and I was stoked that the Broncos won and the Packers lost.
I remember that sportscaster extraordinaire Ron Zappolo concluded after this game, and then the next year's Super Bowl win that (for Bronco fans) - "these ARE the good old days." With all due respect & gratitude to Peyton Manning, Zappolo was right.
I’ll never forget how it felt, either. Sitting there with my mom, after we had suffered with the team for years..I wasn’t sure they were going to win until the very last play, but man did it feel like it then. Always felt like Shanny took a timeout just for us all to bask in the moment.
Today that would of been a helmet to helmet, defenseless receiver, or etc. Shows how tuff you had to be as a QB. That one is for John! From a Raider Nation citizen.
Oh, it was a different world...Ironic that you'd be a Raider fan. I was just watching an old game on dvd. It was the big win Denver got against the Raiders in 1995. And to look at the score-27-0-you'd think it was easy. But Elway took a beating in that game that most of today's guys simply could not deal with. He had a big night throwing the ball, but spent half the game on the ground. It was a man's game back then, and nobody was any tougher than John Elway.(though to be fair, your team had a really tough qb on the field that night too in Hostetler)...
Lol Brett Farve said pre game when I win this game it will cement me in the hall of Fame and among the greatest q.b's of all time...got his ass whipped....broncos were a total team owner coaching run game receivers defense and the great John Elway!!!!
Elway is my fav athlete of all time. And this also highlights how lame the broncos currently are. Remember way back in the 90s when we had a good team, a good QB and weren’t a laughing stock? Yeah let’s ride
I am a Miami fan, and this play and ability to do this is why he won and Marino did not.. People don't realize its these little things that are the difference between a champion or not. Not super stats and the best release or whatever else, you need to make this type of play at some point in a season to win a playoff game or superbowl and be a champ. Elway was able to do it even at age 37
Your right but he did this his entire career. Whatever it took to win ... Look at his punt yards and he's also been a receiver a few times.. it's his smarts and never say die. If Jim McMahon was as tough and athletic as elway he would have won 2 more Superbowls... elway beat McMahon in Denver and McMahon had a 28game win streak come to an end 31 28broncos but. McMahon passed for I think 500yrds ..I'd still take elway with the 98broncos against any team in history....
Helicopter play = back when you could actually HIT the QB! Today that play would be a "roughing the passer"/"targeting" 15 yd penalty call on Green Bay. And those 3 Green Bay defenders would be ejected from the game. How times have changed!
I know about the divorce and the shameful legal system in Colorado I wish you would have just stayed with he Colts.... Colorado has the best law in the country but it isn't applied. I love you Elway
We need will fuller john ross and kevin king from free agency Hinton and Cleveland aren't doing the job, cut gordon and sign jordan Howard he's a free agent, play jalen virgil
He is the reason Tim Tebow doesn't play football, he gets them to the playoffs after the starting QB gets hurt, then Elway decides to cut him. P.O.S. Elway.......I'm glad his 💩 is out
