Inside Out: Trauma Informed Dance Movement Therapy Course in Bangalore Indiranagar at FLUX:-
At FLUX, starting July 2023, we offer Inside Out, a regular Dance Movement Therapy Course at its Psychological Trauma Centre. The said course comprises a holistic approach to healing psychological trauma in Bangalore Indiranagar.
In this introductory article, we have deliberately used simple language. Its purpose is to throw a clear light on the complex scientific procedures involved in healing trauma from inside out. The procedures of the process start from a safe space, moving steadily towards daringly adventurous!
An Overview of Inside Out: Trauma Informed Dance Movement Therapy Course in Bangalore Indiranagar at FLUX:-
This is a 6 month certification course integrating the psyche and the body. It works with body at the centre of this modality, looking at genuine ways to tap into the intuitive wisdom. This intuitive wisdom lies inside our ever evolving, healing and unique bodies. The said approach is trauma informed and uses the body as the guiding tool for healing.
Dance Movement Therapy Course will comprise 6 month long community centric group based sessions.
Understanding Dance Movement:-
1. Detailed real world understanding of the anatomy, including the nervous system, endocrine system, skeletal system, muscular system, gut world and connective tissues
2. Diving deep into the world of dance movement therapy using somatic practices, intuitive body work, release technique and breath work, all working holistically towards one main task - the flow of energy.
3. Understanding the central nervous system, the unique ability of the human spine and activating it through deep, informed, conscious, effortless movement
4. Working on increasing the range within the joints
5. Working on increasing the neuroplasticity of the connective tissues, ligaments, tendons and muscles
Understanding Psychological Trauma:-
1. Detailed real world understanding of trauma through intersectional lens of political, geopolitical, generational, gender, caste, class, race and sociocultural dynamics
2. Diving deep into Polyvagal Theory of Trauma
3. Understanding psychological trauma and its sites and locations within the body
4. Understanding psychological trauma responses through activations of fight, flight, freeze and fawn within the body
5. Building a compassionate inquiry into shadow work and inner child work.
6. Addressing childhood traumas and unhealthy patterns that build within the nervous system, joints, musculature, endocrine system, gut and immunity
7. Working towards body neutrality
Themes to Bridge The Gap between The Psyche And The Body in Inside Out: Trauma Informed Dance Movement Therapy Course in Bangalore Indiranagar at FLUX:-
1. Curiosity with an emphasis on regulation of the nervous system
2. Compassionate accountability with an emphasis on shadow work
3. Unlearning unhealthy movement patterns like posture, rigidity, resistance, fatigue, hyper activity and dysregulation
4. Building an Informed relationship with the body by tapping into the interoceptive sense
5. Vulnerability with the emphasis on inner child work and childhood trauma
6. Building heartfelt empathy
7. Working through building resilience within the body functions
8. Addressing the gaps between the neuro-typical brain function and the neuro-divergent brain function
9. Learning to build a safe space for the regulation to be effective
10. Understanding intuitive discernment as opposed to trauma based judgement.

2. Movement practices and breath work

5. Expressive arts including dance, voice work, podcasts, circle sharing, spoken word, stand up, open mics and story telling
6. Emphasis on co-regulation through building a vibrant and thriving eco-system
7. Addressing how to make space in the body and allowing the release of primary and secondary emotions
8. Bringing the focus to the natural flow of energy
9. Nonviolent intentional communication with an emphasis on mature, wise and free spirited transformation
10. Assessing physical, mental, emotional, social, financial and energetic boundaries
