Kate has done really well shes sensitive and compassionate..it must have been very difficult for her to get exactly the right balance.. the mothers day cards are so special and so lovely. Bless you kate you really must be 1 in a million
I am glad that Rio and Kate have made this documentary...it’s a phenomenal story of what families go through, and needs to be aired to strengthen other families in this situation. Kate is not Rebecca, but she is still a mother to the children, she doesn’t have to be blood relative, she is STILL a mother and should be loved and honoured on Mother’s Day too🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🎉🎉🎉
Kate is a special woman, I'm so happy for Rio and his kids that they have someone like that in their lives. Kate deserves all the praise in the world for the way she has handled everything. I'm proud of her, and I don't even know her.

Just watched this. Such a touching and moving documentary. Credit to absolutely everyone involved, and all the very best to Rio's family. And those kids in that counselling session were fantastic, so mature beyond their years despite, or possibly because of, their devastating circumstances. With kids like this, you know the future of the world is in good hands!

Kate is a kind sweet soul that really wants to get it right! There have been some nasty comments on twitter about this programme. The subject is real not just to Kate and Rio but other families too. Rios kids are very young and quite clearly after listening to Lorenz and Tia they fear losing someone else to cancer. Which is so sad! Being a parent is hard taking on someone else’s children is even harder but I believe Kate is doing a good job and she wants to get it right. People close to them telling her the kids are not hers it’s not her house is just cruel. They’re not thinking about the kids themselves. You can’t help who you fall in love with. Just proves no matter how much money you have you can’t take fear, pain or hurt away from those kids or anyone’s. Rios status and worth doesn’t come into any of it.. cos he’s fighting like any other parent to do what’s right for his kids.. You’re doing a good job Rio and Kate love to you both! x
"I feel like I'm grieving for someone I didn't know" And that's why she's the best step-mum for those kids. She's grieving birthdays, easters and Christmases that Rebecca will never get to see She's grieving Weddings Rebecca will never attend Grandchildren Rebecca will never know. I'm sure in Kate's mind it feels utterly unfair that she gets all this joy when the one person who should have this joy isn't here She's doing so well, Kate is honoring their Mum and keeping their family together. And grief never goes away ,we just learn to live with it and life does go on and grief pain can be lighter within time but I do believe each person unique and each person grief different in way they grieving.for me at loss of my parents grief was anger,pain,plus it felt surreal and your cry when you least expect to as any memory or thing could tick that emotional flow.2014 lost my dad and before my mum.now pain lighter but grief don,t go away ,you just live with it and there can be happy times even if ones ill like I am now.xxx

The children have 3 parents which makes them super lucky! There mum would be proud of Kate and how they are handling being a step parent! Just remember she not replacing their mum she just another person who will love and support the children! Kate I think you are done amazingly well, you changed your life for the children and you should be commended for that (not that you was a bad person beforehand)

Steven Gallagher Just doing this documentary is wrong on so many levels, it's disrespectful to the children's extended family. Sometimes it's better to keep matters private.
I like this family and I wish them well. But this is a very very rich family and they are being paid to make this show and push their Cancer grief in our faces millions of far less off families do not get a highly paid TV show, Magazine / Newspaper cover to keep their bank balances up while they are suffering. Normally kids out there in the real world do NOT have access to this kind of support they go through the loss and suffer real financial hardship at the same time. Things like this show make those millions out there feel let down by the system. So really we do not need to see how the RICH survive. We need to be making things better for all those less off people to survive.
I would say, he's very lucky. A young, beautiful girl doesn't need to put herself into a such a hard situation. She's a great stepmom and I hope one day she will also have her own child 😉
Unless he's a serious narcissist, he must live with a lot of guilt about the habitual cheating he did on his first wife because he can never truly redeem himself with her because she's gone. If he has any sense he'll treat Kate with the respect she deserves, especially considering the fact that she is taking on his and another woman's children.

I wonder if he blames himself for her getting cancer, as it's said that stress can bring on cancer, and all his cheating (which she knew about) must have stressed her out massively. Ps as a 59yrs mum ,I think this was fate that you Kate fell in love and became a step mum and your perfect because I see plus hear with my one eye sight the love you have also for Rio children and you bring love ,laughter,joy in they life's again as they lovely sweet caring step mum and I do believe that that they mum and nan in heaven are happy that your loving ,caring step mum who trys her best and even if sometimes ahead life gets hard at times,know that I'm sure they grown to love they step mum and love will get you through hard times plus good times.xxx
Ps I think this program will help many step parents and they family's plus grief ECT because I'm sure there are many who do not know the help out there which can help lot but one last thing,never stop talking about lost loved you lost as they counted plus will never be forgotten.xxx

It's strange how people marry their "childhood sweetheart" or "love of their life", yet marry or get into a relationship again after the initial love of their life passes away.
I don't think it's that strange, everyone grieves differently and it come to a point where they want to be with someone again. I was at a wedding yesterday with the same situation and they mentioned that at the time of their wife's passing he never thought it would be normal again. But a few years later the pain gets smaller and they felt like the could move on and be happy again.
Not so strange when Rio was cheating on her every chance he got, even when she was sick. There was a rumour about Kate being his mistress when the wife was dying. If true that's awful and what goes around comes around.

Katie took on a lot of baggage and from what I sensed from the program. Rio’s family were causing issues. Rio’s dad’s attitude was not some place of love but bad intentions. He was a bully.
I agree with this. Also seems like she has given up a lot for him and his children. I understand she gets the situation but it is a huge pressure burden on her IMO to live up to the first wife.

Kate is a great step-mum and mum, however Rio's kids don't know that Rio had cheated on Rebecca several times during the period on which she had cancer. But I respect and understand why Rio keeps his kids private and Kate is a very strong woman being a step-mum in a situation like that.
It's great there both very strong for the kids and she seems a lovely girl Kate but I think the graveyard clip was a bit to far these things should be kept private especially for the kids that poor wee girl crying that shouldn't be shown that's so personal I was all for them till I seen that now I've just gone off them.
