I enjoyed the ISC but it was really just a recap. I wish they spent more time on what has happened more recently and what is planned for the near future.

Before the team slashed video output and went with the current two-per-week, backers complained that the six videos per week were covering too much future wishing and not enough achieved progress.

We'll finally have 4.0 and a mesh server, although it is still not the mesh server we were hoping for (dynamic and with almost unlimited players in the same region)

to be honest unlimited is technically impossible, it can scale yes but it still separates things but they're all linked, its a step above what eve online does

I'll be very surprised if meshing makes it this year, as it's a massive change, for the foundation for the game, and more testing will unveil more bugs.

Off topic but You did a sticks head to head about 5 years ago that is to date the only good size comparison video I've seen. A new head to head with size comparisons would be super helpful.

This has nothing to do with the video. But i just realized, what are they going to do when the game releases? They said they want to stop ship sales, so how are they going to pay all their employees? There is no way they can keep all their studios just with game sales

They won’t stop selling ships. You also have land permits, skins and likely also seasons and events to buy into

smart career moves would include jumping ship to whomever CIG sell their tech to. Freelancing implementation any functions that are not proprietary. Pump that resume.

Ship sales won't end. Its been a discussion many times, and all we can do is brainstorm and speculate. The trick is funding without forcing it on us. One of my ideas is, once all the promised 100 solar systems are complete, sell additional ones. But I suspect many of us will be dead, or the world burns before we get the 100. Just trying to keep it real in expectations. And yes my kids are aware of my SC account and its value. So they will inherit it, and do with as they please.

License out their tech, skins and other typical sales, make other games. It's a full dev studio, it's not like it's some black and white thing where the only option to continue is ship sales or not at all

So they figured out going from non planetary zone to planetary zone, you go from static area to slowly rotating in space area, and that's why things appear to disappear, because the speed at which you'd be going relative to the planet surface spinning is massive. But honestly I don't think it matters, just put zero points of interest at these locations, and its not going to come up. People went and found them as a point of curiosity, but they won't once it's old news to us

once they migrate the game systems like quantum travel to server meshing you wouldn't even know where the border is because it wouldn't throw you out of QT anymore. They even said in the video that it was a bug that turned out to be a happy little accident because they got a lot of extra data out of it as a result of players testing quiet literal edge cases.

@@BizzMRK Yeah exactly. On the last test it didn't kick you out afaik, but you could see the id of the DGS change to people were finding the bounds. But yeah, I bet once its old news, no one will be doing that. Something to solve later most likely

2012 Question: How will AI respond to Server meshing? 2024 Dev Answer: Yes! I just wanted to play a space game...instead we got "Poop your pants, smell bad so take a shower because the AI will not talk to you but your hungry so go eat something" simulator....what a trash can of a space exploration game this mutated into...
