It’s nice. They bumped it up 2 years ago and bumped it again now that it’s officially a cap class now. Very happy and it’s still not too stronk for what it is. Just powerful enough to actually be able to go off on its own(with a ship inside of course) like it’s meant to.
Such a good move. I always felt like everything but the turrets felt like a capital class ship. The turrets always looked mismatched for the size of the ship. LFG!!
please, please, for once in a Drake ship don't forget the VTOL engines and their sensible placement. Goes for every ship, really. edit: we all know it will be a pocket carrier.
This ship is spawning so many ideas, it's a perfect "sandbox" ship and what I want Star Citizen to enable. I can already see me arranging a "Nerf Gun/paintball course" with cargo crates using wow pistols in the Ironclad. Hosting tournaments out of my ironclad or hosting gladiator battles in unlawful systems. To quote one of the best movies of all time, "It'll give us so much extra space in our ship to do activities"
The "live motion" concept art move is EXCELLENT when showing off new ships. I usually think its a relatively cheap trope in visual media (done to cut cost of animating), but here as a proof of concept its the PERFECT use for it. A+ The person/people responsible for the flavor machinima during these ISC releases deserves some praise, as well. It's been fun and immersive and fourth-wall breaking all at once. I hope we continue to get these little cutaways forever. A big thanks to the CIG teams across the world for creating my favorite thing. Enjoy your break, can't wait for more!
when you catch yourself praising a multibillion dollar company on using live motion concept art to sell virtual space ships, you know you're a CIG simp
It helps that they have it in greybox already. I think that if they continue to wait til the vehicle is in the greybox phase to show it off for sale, it will help players have more faith in upcoming concept ships, rather than expecting it to take years before it even gets into greybox s
If that's what being a SIMP for them is, then I am a major SIMP! Haha, so many games out there, making so much money, especially on micro transactions. At least this game you get to thoroughly enjoy what you put in. Or, you can simply purchase everything in game after the initial purchase of the game. The basics here is, people willingly have put their money into the ships, happily even! CIG is giving us what we want and we are choosing to pay for it. I think they are doing amazing work and breaking records! I am a total simp for them if appreciating what they are doing makes it so. :P
The reveal of the spaceman is the best. The status updates on the Polaris is awesome news, and the new Ironclad looks to be a good step up point for Cargo Haulers!
God I loved the bit at the end. Please let Jared be a real NPC character in the final GAME CIG! This is a must, and I am not taking no for an answer :D
It's making me question how quickly I can pick up some low-cost game packages to make sure I have enough personal NPC crew to handle it without hiring out.
I doubt this comes soon. And when this comes will be a payoff like having to pay a salary to these crew members and provide'em with food, water, quarters and equipment.
Yup. NPC Crew is #1 for me. As a Solo player, i am going to build a great crew with my NPC buddies. Going to be nice every time i log on my NPC Crew is there ready to go.
@canismokethis1812 definitely going to be fat. The Hercules can carry 2 Tonks. This can carry 4. I estimate about 1400 SCU storage for the "Ironclad".
@@joelellis7035 people are saying this will replace the Hercules line of ships, the thing is the hercules are probably much faster, and harder to hit then this brick.
@@angerskarin9222 i would hope so, if in my opinion if the A2 and M2 dont have some sort of either armor, shield, speed, or other advantage over the fatterpillar, then there's no real reason to own one of those other than personal preference.
Until the end I was thinking "What is Scooter's Memaw doing in all these videos?" The face reveal was great. Awesome season, can't wait for it to pick up again.
What could that possibly mean? All turrets receive size 5s? That would hardly be enough to fight other capital ships like they mentioned. But what could it be then? S6 doesnt exist and S7 on all turrets would render the Perseus useless.
@@rahlap2449you can currently buy s6 weapons ingame, lol. They were even balanced for 3.23 but not a single ship is using them. The polaris would be a perfect usecase. To be honest, i expected the current model to use them, would’ve been a top fit. Got instead those pea shooters.
I'm salivating over the concept of major salvage operations with the ironclad and multiple vultures. 2-4 on stripping in vultures, 2 on loading into the bay, and 1 pilot ferrying 2 separate chassis back and forth to sell the cargo.
I get you, but I would rather have them fix the Reclaimer, so you can offload from the Reclaimer. Also, there does need to be a midsized salvager, Vulture is a "light salvage" reclaimer a "heavy salvage". The Vulture feels too small to really warrant the new ship, being more in line with a Cutlass or Connie Andromeda for cargo. Reclaimer is closer to what an Ironclad would be wanted for, but even then the Ironclad is too small, with the Reclaimer having a "snap" storage of 420 (which currently doesn't include the salvage hold, cargo hold, and only half of the processing hold) so final numbers for that would be in the potential of thousands of SCU. So there does need to be a mid sized, with a salvage hold in the low to mid hundreds (as opposed to the Vulture's 13 SCU) but not the thousands (the Reclaimer after it goes through an update, most likely).
Me talking to my friend last week about a SuperCatterpillar, well here it is. We can see the insane improvement in design since the Cat, and i love it, Nice work.
This is a awesome looking ship. That said, large multi-crew ships are essentially digital collector items until CIG implements crew ship bed logouts or last point in session (LPS) logouts. Spending an hour or more for a crew to gear up just to fully realize the ship's use isn't appealing to many players, including large orgs. An LPS feature needs to be in the game before or at least by 4.0. Here's an idea, CiG if you want in increase revenue, instead of developing more ships, FOCUS on FIXING the many persistent glitches and improve existing gameplay quality. By doing this, you can increase player engagement and satisfaction, leading to even greater revenues when new ships or features are introduced.
Glad you’re releasing yet another ship but can you PLEASE get the backlog capital ships done first? Javelin, Polaris, BMM, etc? It’s only right to get them done before you started on this.
Yeah though it does worry me that they say you don't want to detach it unless you really have to... For the ironclad. I hope that doesn't blow over to the Cat. How awesome isn't it to be able to plonk down cargo barges w/o command module and ferry those back and forth, and use as temp bases, etc. etc.
Best ISC season to date for sure. Have a good break Jared, loved the spaceman reveal. The Polaris is looking good so far and interesting to see a new larger Drake ship.
@@Cmdr_V Well it's a size up from the Cat. I hope they overhaul the Cat because it's a cool idea with the modules. I want to see those get implemented. But this new ship is amazing for Cargo and sets the standard IMO.
Now, I mostly stick to soloable ships, so I'm stopping at the 600i and C2 size. That said, I love to seem more variety in the 'verse and the Ironclad is a beautiful expansion of the Drake catalog. The Kraken is my current favourite capital ship in the 'verse so anything that brings is closer is cool to see. So, why did I comment? Because that ending was awesome. When it hit 15:36 and we get to see who's in the suit... and then he faceplants, tripping on a Pico? Perfection.
@@eggertime Well, than every ship which isnt a fighter will be unflyable solo. Even a Freelancer has Components which can be hit, its not much different in a C2. Its a bit more to walk, but walking only makes a few % of the needed time in Engineering Gameplay.
@@xkitejunkie No, it means that ain't Memaw. Did you see anyone get eaten? I didn't. And Memaw would be double fisting two double-dogs in each hand, while still managing to berate Scooter into getting more.
I wish I could like this a thousand times! YES Faterpillar! YES DRAKE assets for Kraken! YES... WINDOWS ON SHIPS!!! And omg best outro of the season 😂 Thanks guys! Enjoy the downtime 🎉
Fantastic! With up-sized guns and turrets, the Polaris needs nothing else. The Drake Ironclad.... well, it's Drake perfection. Jared, your "toon" is absolutely amazing. Mine, on the other hand, needs some major work. I am no artist, so, not so good.
Loved the ending Jared, thank you, I'm still LMAO. All the rest is great news, Might have found something to replace the C2 with, but I think I missed the SCU space the Ironclad is going to have.
Love the update on the Polaris but can I just say how much I appreciate the Ironclad already. When think of a more rugged sci fi experience this checks boxes for days.
Called it from the first time Mr. Orange appeared on screen. That being said, Man I can't wait for the Ironclad. I was expecting everything from drake BUT a super armored cargo ship that holds more than a Caterpillar but less than a Hull C.
I appreciate this concept...as a Hull C pilot (Hull D Owner), this is exactly what I kept thinking about when hauling larger cargo...similar to a real world freighter. This will definitely be my primary ship in the Verse.
Super hyped for the polaris news. Cant wait for it later this year if they can make it. I like the new drake fatterpillar as well. Very verstile looking ship, especially if the "assualt" version allows for ship spawning/refuel, or repair. ** I melted nearly everything I owned to ccu up to the Polaris when it was announced. Glad it will be one of the first cap ships to make it in game. Just like with most ships I will end up melting the old ones for the newer better ships eventually I guess. But for now I can't wait to do some group play on my Polaris. Have 6 or so at least fully man that thing and go blow up some Idris and then have the salvage crew come in and scrape that bad boy and make bank.
I love the lil detail with the visible missilerack/magazin on the bridge. Kinda reminds me to the Constellation. You can see the missilerack/magazin there too.
I think it’s awesome that they are working on all these cool vehicles, the Ironclad looks great and is definitely something I think will bring a change to the game. My concern is what about the older vehicles that have gotten no attention or updates in years? The Liberator, namely because I have it, looks like an amazing ship, but we have heard so little, and they are introducing new ships and finishing them before other, previously released ships, are getting done. The Banu merchantman is another that comes to mine. The hype was there a year or two ago, and now we have heard nothing since
This ship is literally amazing. I’ve not seen a ship or concept yet That has me as excited to get to fly it in game and base my fleet around it. Lets go smuggler gameplay ! Amazing work guys, please please please please bring this one to flight ready asap! 🎉 Fuqking amazing.
Seems to be more observation / operation deck, rather than command deck (and the command unit *looks* like it might be compatible with the one for the Cat - so it could swap between them).
Literally could of had a 3 seat set up like the connie with the pilot being in the middle especially considering the ship has pilot controlled weapons on it.
Honestly I know people are complaining about the focus on bigger ships and I understand why. However, I’m extremely excited to see (hopefully if server meshing works right) the world of Star Citizen flourishing later this year. With the inclusion of capital ships when 4.0 releases with Pyro, the potential for gameplay will be amazing. Now that they have more people working on the PU, we’re seeing bigger and better updates. Can’t wait!
Perseus is a sub cap ship with a fraction of the crew requirement and has bespoke guns iirc so it'll have a bit of kick to it even compared with a upgunned polaris. Pretty fair that a military cap ship gets at least one turret with equal size guns to it and a minelayer.
The perseus is a subcapital large slayer. Nowhere was it said it slays anything capital. Would be also comical, considering s7 weapons are the defacto standard weapon against large ships (capitals use far larger weapons against each other like the idris s10 railgun, the javelin s12 torpedos and s9 turrets, the polaris s10 torpedos etc). And even using those giant weapons it will take some time for them to hurt each other. The javelin has s7 broadside batteries dotted all over the hull. Considering battles between capitals are supposed to last longer than 15 seconds with all this firepower you can imagine how durable capitals are and how much actual damage 4 s7 weapons will do. That was also the main argument for the upgunning of the polaris. Giving it a s7 turret won’t change jack in the anti capital area. Thats torpedo territory. But it helps to put up pressure against large ships like the hammerhead.
Makes me wonder whats the differene to the liberator. Can this ship do the same but better or no? Its so cool for sure. I love Industrial ships. No i have not found the Polaris touring the verse :( The Polaris is constantly hiding together with the fleet. Only the Irdris is there.
The people can use them as they like but both have different roles. Looking at the concept art the Ironclad is a transport while the Liberator is a dropship for vehicles.
