I was lucky enough to go to the grand opening of Tesla's Gigafactory Texas. Here I got to tour the inside of Giga Texas and meet up with some well-known faces in the industry to get their reaction to the Cyber Rodeo festivities.

For those who don't know, Sandy Munro (8:03) is one of the most influential engineers in the world. His work on connection reliability in cars was so insightful and general that we refer to it when designing medical devices. That work is one of the reasons why gigacasting technology became a priority. Basically, connections between components are like moving parts -- that's where nearly all failures will happen. You may have heard people proudly say "has only one moving part". Munro was a key player in the movement to make us just as proud to say "formed as a single piece". On the down side, it's gonna suck when minor damage forces you to replace the entire big piece. Sorry about that. Trade-offs, always trade-offs.

@@AwesomeBlackDude that was honestly so weird and the shuttle driver NEVER gave us an explanation! We think he made a wrong turn, but if we had just walked from where the shuttle picked us up, we would have walked like 1/7 of the distance...

I was about to comment the same thing. I particularly note Sandy Munro's comment on Giga Texas leading the way globally. As someone who has investigated design and components over many decades, advising many manufacturers, his knowledge is way above the others. I think Sandy and his team provide a huge service to the automotive industry, way above the size of his companies would indicate, he deserves far greater reward and recognition. Indeed, given his long association with Musk, he has been a significant infuence on Tesla. Some of the interviewees I had never heard of, will check their channels.

I did do a livestream while I was there and YES, it was pixelated, but people need to understand we were inside a gigantic building with 15,000 people LOL. I am glad you liked my highlights of the event, It was a great time.

Thank you Ellie, that was most enjoyable. I've always felt that Elon was selecting for what I think of as UPPERCASE candidates to fill his first few thousands of personally interviewed hires.. Comfortable in their own skin, intelligent and capable individuals that have a healthy drive to reach their goals. These are PEOPLE that easily are comfortable being TEAM PLAYERS. Elon = singularity. One of the finest humans to live imho, humanity, the earth, the solar system at least all is grateful for Elon to come along and sacrifice so much to "jump start"/quantum leap humanity into what is hopefully thr great awakening.
