@lailasalas It sometimes depends like for us in Toledo it was celebrated a week early due to equipment availability and is normally celebrated on the first Saturday of May. Toledo's national train day has always been considered the first national train day due to (like mentioned earlier) equipement availability. Thanks for watching!!!

I took Amtrak 79 to Raleigh, NC to visit family a few days ago 5/5/22 and P42DC 22 was my Locomotive

The Silver Star looks like a spaceship on the inside, literally, look up 'NASA space shuttle cab' and you will see

@lailasalas Well these are annual scheduled events that Amtrak puts on and are free so there is no reserving for the event, however the next Amtrak nation wide event is not untill next year's national train day. Also Those stations (especially Chicago) do celebrate the event keep an eye on Amtrak's website and it usually displays a date for the national train day event.

I always wondered if trains had a auto pilot like if the engineer needs to use bathroom does the train have sensors to slow it down when it approaches a curve and switch points like does it have a program or something
