It is right but if the Pope should be elected with a majority of 1 vote only and if among those votes there is his vote for himself, the ballot is annulled. Every ballot paper has a hidden code related to each cardinal. In the case of an election with one vote more only, the Decan Cardinal can check if the cardinal-the Pope to be, has voted for himself. This is also the reason why the ballot papers are burnt every time. It must not be possible for the new Pope to know which cardinal voted for him.
Yes they can. The rule was changed after the election of Pius XII. In Vacantis Apostolicae Sedis, he changed the rule, requiring a candidate to receive a two-thirds + 1 majority so that his own vote could not be the deciding vote. This has been upheld in more recent changes to the conclave by Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI. There is also no way to know for whom a cardinal has voted for as they no longer have to sign their ballots.
"Under 80" (re: conclave participation) is now applied to the moment the papacy became vacant, not to the start of the conclave. This rules out scheduling of the conclave to include or exclude a Cardinal who is very close to the age limit. Cardinal Walter Kasper was 79 when Pope Benedict XVI resigned, and actually entered the 2013 conclave at age 80, having reached 80 BEFORE that conclave. Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, 1 week older than Cardinal Kasper, was 80 when Pope Benedict resigned and was not in the conclave.
If Husar was elected Pope in 2013 and his country Ukraine was occupied by Russia in 2022 he will from his predecessors John Paul II and Benedict XVI who were Polish and German both countries helps Ukraine
Yeah seriously, the world would flip because America is the big evil. The big evil that stepped in to aid the allies in both world wars. The big evil that gives more foreign aid than the next four countries combined. The big evil that houses and provides the majority of funding for the UN. Terrible, evil America.
Chandler Keaton - Yeah, the big evil with a fuck-wit of a leader, voted for by millions of other fuck-wits, who won’t be satisfied until he has destroyed the world in his many ways.
"Cardinals are not allowed to vote for themselves" How do you even enforce that? If the ballots are anonymous and they're all read out loud together after everyone votes instead of one by one as they come in, there's no way the other Cardinals could possibly know who voted for who.
I mean "you should not lie". How do we impose that? It is a moral thing. Let them and their God knows and judges it. Them selecting themselves doesnt change much thing.
Yongle96 hey, I’m born and raised in Ontario Canada and whatever language I’m reading aloud, the pronunciation is proper. Not every anglo is this horrible at the pronunciation of other languages!
@@holdthatlforluigi Yeah but there's a difference between not accurately pronouncing something and pronouncing something horribly wrong. The way he pronounced "eligo" IS horribly wrong. There's no reason - in English as in Latin - to pronounce the "g" that comes before an "o" any different than the normal way.
@@TheJoJo572 Even so, I don't even think anyone can avoid pronouncing a great number foreign languages horribly wrong at first glance. All it takes is a more distinct phonology and a less intuitive Romanization system to make a really big mess.
Not really. Pope Francis was elected after only 5 ballots. Pope Benedict was elected after only 4 ballots. There were fewer electors for John Paul II, but he was elected after 8 ballots.
There are preferitti. Wich are cardinals who are seen as the possible new heirs. When the conclave reunites the majority of the cardinals know who these are and will prob vote on one of them
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI even said that the Holy Spirit does not choose the Pope. The Cardinals do, but they pray for guidence in choosing the right one.
Do you know who would be the last person ever to be accepted as a prince of the Church? The Galilean carpenter. That Jew. They would kick him out before he tried to cross the threshold. He would be so ill-at-ease in the Church. What would he think of St. Peter’s? What would he think of the wealth, and the power, and the self-justification, and the wheedling apologies?
You mean the Bible the Catholic Church compiled in 382? You know, the original. The one that was the only Bible for a thousand years that protestants took and perverted by changing certain words and removing books to suit their personal interpretation. You should read it.
Perfectly fine as long as we see it as it is a Catholic system Jesus Disciples was chosing.Directjy by Him an after He was Acended in to Heaven By The Holy Spirit this has nothing to do with Christianity
They exist because the country housing it, Italy, allows it. If Italy became less religious that might change and those oppressed by the church might see freedom.
I adore Jesus and find this entire thing fascinating and, ultimately, pretty depressing. The wealth of this - and most - churches is pretty much everything Jesus couldn't stand. 🤦
Blessed are the rich for they will live forever in riches wallowing in their jewelry, golden tiaras and delivering their sermon on the mount from gilded chairs. I am both inspired and healed.
Hands up all those who don't understand that almost every religion is theatre on a grand scale. This has NOTHING to do with "God" or "Gods." It has EVERYTHING to do with BUSINESS.
Matthew 7: 15 Be on the watch for the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise, every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, nor can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize those men.
Jesus Yanez From what I understand they originally did it in secret because it could be dangerous to reveal how many votes each person has. They just never changed it.
Jesus Yanez By they I mean the cardinals in the Middle Ages. As for pope, the word itself is not in the Bible because it is derived from the Latin word for “daddy.” Since we are on the subject, can you tell me where the phrases “altar call” and “asking Jesus into your heart” are in the Bible? Can you show me wear the words “denomination” and even the word “Bible” appear in the Bible? I’ll wait.
@@mikes.8120 i'll tell u where they are nowhere cause they are all man made. Jesus never started the catholic, mormon, jw, 7 day adventist, methodist, baptist, pentecostal churches or any other religion, Jesus said deny yourself daily pick up your cross and follow me.
Alwin Priven Death of Pope Pius XII. The conclave following his death elected a pontiff (white smoke) and then violating canon law they pressure the newly elected pope into one more ballot. The next ballot elected another man (John XXIII) which led the church astray. He is the Pope responsible for convening the Second Vatican Council. The corrupt changes from that are still being felt today. I do not recognize anything post Vatican Ii.
I've read about it and it seems fine. Things like "ecumenical efforts towards dialogue with other religions" seem good, but I have no idea and don't know anything about it. I'm not religious, and even if I were I would've probably been a Jew, so no relation to the pope. But if you don't recognize it that's fine, probably.
Alwin Priven I have given up my faith and church as well. I joined a church that teaches that once you have been exposed to the one true faith, there is no salvation else where. I find that in my situation very cruel. I am no longer a believer.
That actually is quite logical, but of course popes have done good (for example John Paul II was against Apartheid in South Africa and said it should be abolished, or helping end communism in European countries).
ApachE dude shut your stupid mouth up please The religion is a sham the procedures for becoming pope are Completely worth less, all the pope does is wear white any like he’s god,and speak to 1billion delusional brainwashed people Catholicism is completely useless. There is no point
Well...I find your insult very incoherent and superfluous. I guess your brain is a worth of two pence and a quarter shillings. Being elected as the Pope of the Catholic Church ⛪ is not the front of heart and also, I don’t find it ridiculous. I guess u don’t read the Bible at all, try to read a bible for once see what u come up with it
Your comment is meaningless and pointless, also idiotic. It has a ton of meanings for catholics. That is a catholic procession in which the ones who are suitable for voting vote. The vote has to be defined, not won by one vote over the half, but at least two thirds, so that the catholic scholars are clearly for the chosen pope.
How are you able to function in society then? An oath is a promise, this is clearly not true since Jewish priests in the old testament probably had to take oaths
@@bettyboossister3918 first of all the term is idolatry. Second of all the Bible forbids idolatry and it would seem rather silly to practice idolatry when the catholic church compiled the first bible in 382. Historical facts hurt don't they.
Betty Boo's Sister why so many agresion, catholicism is western Christianity, it’s not put the Pope on the place of God. God is Lord who always was on the first place, we are pepole created by God who is Holy Trinity, and we serve to him if we want. I want, do you?
