The remote province of Papua, home to Asia’s most extensive remaining rainforests has escaped fairly untouched, until now.
This film investigates how Papua has become the new frontier for aggressive palm oil expansion.

I truly can't watch that destruction!!! Heart breaking! Poor people....nothing left!! Here is hoping the other part of Papua preserves their forests...the Indonesian part is doomed for sure...

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Indonesia’s half of the island is actually in much better condition than PNG’s. This is one of the most important parts of the planet. Period. It needs to be protected. Saying it’s doomed, even if it’s just a completely misguided RU-vid comment, doesn’t help.

I have a great idea : Maybe the British could pay reparations to Malaysia and Indonesia for colonizing them and that way, the farmers wouldn’t have to cut down the rain forests to farm and feed themselves.

You can't blame us for current deforestation when you've been independent for decades. It's your own people cutting down your rainforests, not us!

@@danielward7008 Deforestation happened before independence.

@@tzegoh333 Not on the present scale it didn't. When you gained independence your forests were largely intact. Your own people destroyed them for a quick profit.

@@danielward7008 Nope, I can tell you that even before independence, the colonizers were already burning down rain forest in order to plant cash crops -- and why are you lecturing to people about their own country like as though you are a colonizer and that other people do not know better?

@@tzegoh333 Not on today's scale they wasn't. And I'm not lecturing you, I'm just countering your ridiculous notion that we you owe you reparations. We owe you nothing.
