that wont stop people feeling incentivized to illegally move to countries and work. no amount of sympathy peddling can erase that cognitive fact from anyone who has to actually sit and think about this... theres consent to be exploited, because the entire thing was most likely illegal dealings in the first place. and no one uneducated enough to not know that the only way to travel through countries is through legal Headquarters, bureaus and immigration hubs and not from "private travel agents" should have the common sense to know theyre too dumb to travel.

This has been happening for years. When I came to the Uk 22 years ago from another EU Western country I was utterly shocked when I heard similar stories. I knew a case of a Brazilian guy who was working in such conditions, he managed to escape when they were going into the vans early morning, and because it was still very dark he Hide outside, when the van left he run no stop to the nearest village and ask for help. He was rescued and lived to tell the story. I learned at the was very common. Unbelievable. Now I know for certain that it extremely common and it is getting worst not better. Even the legal work condition got worst, let alone the slaves. Greed is the root of all evil.

@@Madonnalitta1 You just don't seem to realise that most working age people are a slave to the system of capitalism. Employers are exploiting workers whenever they can to get the maximum amount of work out of them for little in return. There used to be a time when people were hired to do one specific job, were paid for that one specific job and knew what their job was by the title of that job. E.g Restaurants...waiters & bar staff. Now they are lumped together. Supermarkets...Checkout staff, shelf fillers, counter staff are all lumped together and the job title is associate or colleague. Those hired on a minimum wage full time contract of around 40 hours per week get told, "Sorry we've gone over our budget so we only want you to work 20 hours this week" when you are NOT on a zero hours contract. Many people having to rely on food banks and Universal Credit eventhough they are working because the employers don't pay enough for a basic standard of living. The goalposts for retirement age keep being moved. That is reality, not immaturity.

Mass migration and universities bringing in thousands, upon thousands of foreign students that they over charge for tuition compared to domestic students are the biggest problem. If you meant the degree of inhumane treatment regarding certain ppl in the UK ... then you would truly be shocked at how overt and blatant this same issue is in the US ... based on my own experience, living in both countries for a couple of decades each ... the US criminal justice system and society at large allows for the continued oppression of minorities on a much larger and more savage scale ... the US system is based on money to a much larger extent. If your a poor black male, you will be sitting in county jail waiting for trial dates, and have poor free legal representation ... whereas if you can post cash/collateral bail and retain top notch defense attorney ... you can beat a large majority of cases, or worst case ... plead down to a much lesser charge ... many times its a game of resources between defendants and prosecutors... Can you afford to retain attorneys thru a trial or at least keep bluffing the DA until they fold and offer a sweet deal, knowing they'll flop at trial and you won't cave in or run out of cash which is what they rely on and happens most often

The narration, spoken by Lesley Sharp, exhibits a lower volume range compared to conventional standards, for which we apologize. We hope that the content and substance conveyed by this documentary persevere, resonating with you despite the aforementioned technical constraints. A unique insight into the hidden world of modern slavery in the UK, seen through the eyes of people trapped in forced labour and the investigators who are trying to tackle this criminal industry.

As a latvian who's worked in low-skilled jobs abroad myself, it's quite shocking to see "one of our own" being in on this. Our people have been oppressed in the past by multiple other nations/countries, and today many of us are choosing to work abroad in conditions close to that of slavery, willingly, because of how bad the economy is in our own country. Because of that, it's no surprise to find some of us not even so "lucky" too. Yet, these pieces of **** decided to be the exploiters. People like that should be exiled from their own countries for life. By the way, this documentary is 10 years old. Looks like this channel is uploading old documentaries without providing their original date.

It’s ironic that parents who finally get cut off for saying abusive things like that portray themselves as victims. That’s because it’s about a desire to control & by playing a victim the parent can still have influence over other family members. They forget to mention that for decades their words were like jabs & punches in a boxing match while you had your hands tied behind your back. Be strong friend. He bullied you because you were the only captive audience he had. No one else could stand him for more than a few minutes. Let me guess, he went out of his way to be kind to everyone not trapped in the house with him because they knew what he was?

This is nearly always the issue with the UK. When the wrong doers are investigated and caught, the jail sentences are a complete joke. No wonder the reoffending rate in the UK is extremely high. Isn't prison supposed to be a deterrent. Crime would definitely be reduced if the sentences were strict and lengthy. No one looks forward to prison. Long hard sentences, then maybe they will think twice. All they get here is a slap on the wrist. Crime certainly pays in the UK.

I knew a guy once who told an incredible tale of witnessing a murder in an NYC alleyway, and was subsequently abducted by the murderer. He was taken to a house in upstate New York, where he was put to work in the basement where a literal drug processing operation was being undertaken. He witnessed an enforcer of sorts, slip an industrial sized zip tie around a person’s neck, and cinch it up as tight as possible. The guy clutched and grasped at the tie, but was unable to do anything about it, and after flailing around wildly for some time, the person finally died from strangulation.
