OBESITY: AMERICA IN DANGER | ENDEVR Documentary
Watch' Why Are We Fat?' here: • Why Are We Fat? | Comp...
Never in all its history has America been so obese. Despite repeated government efforts to encourage the population to slim down, the obesity rates just keep climbing. 160 million Americans are severely overweight.
Faced with this staggering figure, healthcare professionals are trying to find new, more efficient and more aggressive treatments for this illness… We meet Casey, one of the few people whose weight has become a matter of life and death, and travel to Arizona to see an innovative new academy helping young girls learn healthy habits and slim down.
Despite the rising obesity crisis, a new movement is shaking up the United States: body positivity. Through lucrative social media accounts, popular magazine covers and even successful ‘Miss Plus’ beauty pageants, overweight Americans are learning to flaunt their curves and love themselves no matter their size.

It is even aimed at children, who grow up thinking that this is fine, because they have always been told it is fine, even good, even our governments are part of the problem here, they are aware of the problem, but keep taking money from the big food lobbyists, and allow the high fat, high sugar, high chemical based foods to flood our markets,

I mostly agree, but its not one or the other. We can live in a world that is set up to allow people to eat themselves to death so companies can profit. This is wrong. And also person responsibility is a major factor. Honestly fast food is a bad system since they cant even afford to pay their employees a living wage while offering cheap calorie dense food that even poor people can afford to eat regularly. The rich were fat when food was scarce, so you had to have money to eat well, and those with money didn't need to slave away so they were more sedentary. The poor are fat now because good healthy food is scarce, so you have to have time/money to cook, eat well, and you probably need to be wealthy to 'afford the time' to play sports, exercise, overall have healthy hobbies, whilst those working 2-3 jobs don't. I agree. Its sad seeing fat positivity influencers die in their 30s and 40s. I think we should help overweight people feel normal and human so they aren't deterred from going to the gym or seeing doctors and nutritionists. We shouldn't demonize fat people but also don't allow people to lie and say you can be "healthy at any size" when after maybe 300 pounds there are serious health risks and mobility limitations. Good for you. Majority from the 90's on got more fat/obese over time caused by a change in dietary recommendations from mostly meat, eggs, fish, dairy, fat with sides of veg and the odd dessert to mostly veg, grains, legumes, veg oils and fruit. Started I believe because a few US Senators eating way too much rich food had heart attacks and colleagues wanted answers. Plenty of plant based advocates and cereal manufacturers willing to put their hands up and take the funds to produce studies saying what they wanted to hear. The theory being lower calories, plenty of undigestible expelled fibre will 'fix' all issues. Most not enjoying the diet add processed or swapped to processed. This experiment is a massive disaster.

I was 236 lbs 6 years ago. I lost my car and had to start taking the bus. Which ment I had to walk outside in the heat of Florida. I got down to 150,lbs . Today I've gained 20lbs back. It's very scary. There are 2 reasons I feel are why . The first one is I started taking Uber more . Which ment I'm not walking as much and the second is stress. I know that when I'm financially stressed out I snack more. So not exercising like I was has also added to my stress because I'm not releasing the stress. So I got terrified of putting on to much weight so I started taking the bus at least one to three times a week. I've been trying to cut sugar out but I'm so addicted to it that I get headaches and sometimes I feel lightheaded. So that's a work in process. I definitely don't want to gain anymore weight so I have to put in the work even when I don't want to. Especially when I don't want to 😊

When tens of thousands of doctors in America were over-prescribing synthetic heroin for PMS and toothaches, who's fault was it that those people became addicted to opiates? If you think like I do, which is that the pharmaceutical industry lied to and preyed on Americans en masse by pushing their poison down our throats, is it then such a far stretch to think that the fast food industry in America might share at least SOME culpability for the prevalence of dangerous and addictive foods in this country? Cooking is very simple unless you make it difficult. It does not have to be so diverse, only healthy. Breakfast: 5 eggs and 5 sausage. Lunch: plain yogurt. Dinner: fried ground meat in lard or butter, add some cut up vegetables, a potato that's been cooked a few days ago, or some boiled rice, brown a bit and serve! For snack 2 pieces of fresh fruit. That's what we eat daily. It's cheaper than anything you can buy in fast food joints, low carb, and much more nutritious.

As someone who was overweight growing up in my teen years, 270 lbs and size 44, I decided at 15 to make different choices. Over the next 2 years, by doing so I came down to 185 lbs and a size 38. I finally set in at 150-160 and a size 32, and I remain that still at 64. Thankfully on no meds, and no health issues. My problem, like many today, was simply overeating. I could blame my parents for divorcing, the kids for picking on me, or the fast food industry, but the fact was that I simply made bad choices. Don't blame fast food, because they do not force you in to eat, and if you do there are choices that are reasonable. As far as airline travel, if you take up 2 seats then you pay for 2 seats. That is not discrimination, that is fair to the person who only needs one and does not want to share half of what they paid for with you. People today are looking to be a victim, and seeking someone or something to blame. Stop it, just stop it, and make better choices, get up do more activities, and quit looking for someone to blame other than the person in the mirror who has caused the problem.

Taking time out to cook can be quite the pain, but there are ways to work around it. Prepping meals for the week on a day off is an option. Crock Pots, Instant Pots, and Air Fryers can be quite helpful as well. With an air fryer, I can prepare a piece of chicken or salmon in 20 minutes or less, while the meat is cooking, I prepare my side dishes. Although the word fryer is in the name, you're not actually frying anything either. I just put a little healthy oil, like avocado oil, on the meat to help the seasoning stick, and most of the excess fat on the meat cooks off. Cooking was far more tedious for me before I got an air fryer, I've only used my oven maybe ten times in three years since I started using it. When I got rid of the extra 40 pounds I was carrying, I focused on cutting out my soda/juice consumption, and smaller portions. I trained myself to eat slower so I wouldn't eat until full, just satisfied. I didn't exercise due to chronic pain issues, but got plenty of walking in at work. Good luck losing the weight. You can do this.

The fact that the narrator thinks 20,000 calories is a week's worth of food is pretty disturbing. 20,000 calories a week will leave you obese, unless you are expending huge amounts of energy. Majority of people require less than 2,000 calories a day.

The largest of them would be considered below average in weight today. The old guys have arms and necks that are chiseled out of wood. Wow, what a boring, one-sided diet to have... For someone like me, who can't stand red meat and is cautious about fish that's either full of antibiotics if it's cultivated, or micro-plastics or mercury if it's wild caught, that kind of diet would be absolutely not sustainable for me. Also, there's a ton of health benefits from complex carbs like whole grains, legumes and lentils that I just cannot do without. A restrictive diet may be quiet nice while you're healing if you had a very bad one before. But it's definitely not an ultimate long-term solution, since we as omnivores - not carnivores or frugivores or whichever bull💩 term ppl come up with nowadays - thrive only on diverse diet that consists of plants AND animal proteins, because that's how we get all the nutrients, minerals and vitamins we need. The only things we have to watch is the amounts we consume and those foods being processed as little as possible. Home cooked meals that contain no additives or other harmful ingredients are the healthiest option. Other than that there's no need for restrictions that do more harm than good in the long run.

I’ve been working on weight loss together with my husband. I was 40lbs overweight and he was 60lbs over. Now I’m only 10 lbs away from my goal weight after 3 years of up and down fluctuations in weight, and he is 20lbs away. We’ve been counting calories, eating home cooked meals, and increased our physical activity to make it happen. It’s harder for women to stay consistent in weight loss, due to our monthly energy fluctuations due to our natural hormone cycle. I recommend women to look into the nature of their cycles and learn the amount of physical activity doable in each part of your cycle, because it helps to understand why something that was easy to do one week ago feels impossible this week. I used to beat myself up about my inconsistency in activity, but it all makes sense once you realize how affected you can be by your cycle.
