When my mother had cancer, she chose hospice care instead of treatment. She wanted to live in the moment and splash out for the first time in her life, and that included shopping at Whole Foods for practically all her groceries (and lots and lots of wine). She ended up living v comfortably and carefree for almost two years 😊

Totally understand your mums thinking, enjoying the time she had how she wanted. I was my mums carer b4 she passed and cooked all her meals. She often said to me at dinner time, she wanted her dessert first. I said mum you can eat what you want in whatever order you want, its your choice. My mum was 81 when she passed and i was just happy that she enjoyed what i prepared, so i didnt care what she wanted to eat first.

Having been to the big Whole Foods supermarket in Kensington High Street I can tell you it's overrated. The food isn't very fresh, in fact I saw plenty that was "on the turn" as it were. Most of what they sell is waaaayyyy overpriced or you could make yourself at home for a lot less. Not impressed at all.

It’s interesting how like me Hannah can shop cleverly in low budget stores like Aldi. But hey every now and again we feel decadent in our spending. And suddenly splurge every now and again. Note she examined the Hand made chocolates 🍫, sometimes we have a drive out to Orton , twixt Tebay & Kirkby Steven to visit Kennedy’s Hand made chocolate shop and Cafe Restaurant . Our grandsons used to take a lolly stick because we bought them a fresh fruit puréed chocolate lined ice cream milk shake to take away. Last week fed up of economising , I had a splurge and bought the biggest box of their Home made chocolates. But what the heck . And of course our milk shake . The daughter always orders a box of Kennedy’s hand made chocolates on Fathers Day. Kennedy’s also have a shop nearby in The Lake District . But it’s the milk shakes we need to indulge in too.

LOL That was super entertaining! The Whole Foods stores here in the US are normally not that large. At least here in CA. It had WAY more than we normally find, very interesting to see. Yours does seem very "American" in look and foods sold compared to stores I've shopped in London. It's definitely one of the most expensive food stores here, whereas Aldi is probably the cheapest. Very interesting and amusing video today Hannah. American supermarket food prices are nuts. It was $4 for a load of bread in Colorado. I went to Safeway to get what would be my usual picnic sandwich items. At the time those items would set me back tenner in the UK. I'd got about ¾ of what I wanted and did a quick tally. The cost was up to $35. I had to start putting things back for the first time since I was a student. It was SO DEPRESSING! ☹️

More people live in the San Francisco Bay Area than in the entire state of Colorado! 😲 At the local grocery store in my corner of Silicon Valley, a sandwich, chips and a drink is $12 or so, which is about 10 pounds sterling. 🙂

People not living in the UK need to keep in mind the exchange rate to their own currency so what may seem "cheap" isn't. I think the last time I looked (quite a while ago) to convert Canadian $ to UK $ you doubled the amount. So, 6 pounds for 2 cupcakes is $12 CDN, that full octopus would be about $120 CDN and that 547 pound wine would be over $1000. Just some perspective. Still looks yummy and tempting though LOL>

Watching this from Phoenix Arizona while waiting for my Whole Foods order to be delivered 😂 Grocery prices in Phoenix have gone up a lot, so WF prices aren’t that different from the standard stores. I know I could spend less but I’d have to shop around at several stores to find everything so WF ends up being the most convenient. I’m far from rich, but this is my bit of luxury I guess. Yeah Whole Foods is great. You know the properties in a given neighborhood are especially valuable if there is a Whole Foods nearby. 🙂 The company is based here in the USA, in the city of Austin, which is the capital of the state of Texas. 🙂 Squash is a fruit! Also known as.....pumpkin! It comes from Mexico originally, though it is grown in the USA as well now, and is commonly consumed during autumn in the USA and Canada 🙂 In fact I think it went from South America/Mexico to Europe and then to USA. (technically pumpkins are squash, although to me squash is the yellow variety and pumpkin is the orange variety.) Wait, what is the "toilets only" sign? That's rather odd. Does that mean that there is only a toilet and no washbasin? 😲lmao I'm kidding, I'm kidding 🙂

Ole & Steen are the Danish version of Starbucks, but they started as a bakery, so pastries and cake are their forte, rather than the coffee. Not that Starbucks coffee is any good, really. They are everywhere here in Denmark, but they are called Lagkagehuset. The first one ever opened in the very posh neighbourhood of Christianshavn in Copenhagen, in a building that gave it its Danish name, because it looked like a layer cake. I’m only a few minutes in the video. I am from the States. I holiday in England every year. I thought it was very funny you mentioned people from the States complaining about your “cheap” food prices. It is true, but it is the Only thing cheaper than the States🤣🤣. This is the first video of yours I have seen. I so love the UK. I was there in June and feel “home sick” to go back

Hi Hannah, another great food vlog. I have to say I was not shocked at the cost. Here in Australia food is expensive and the cost.of living is high. I paid $5 yesterday for a standard loaf of mixed grain bread and another fiver for a standard bar of Cadbury peppermint chocolate not on special, sooo if you are talking about pocket pinch just do your weekly shop here then you will feel the pain. All as I can say is thank God for Aldi. A loaf of mixed grain bread there yesterday $2.98 but they had no stock. Cheers from Melbourne 😊❤👩‍💼

Hello Hannah, It is so fun watching you. I live in Northern Virginia Metro Washington, DC area. I think you have better prices there in your Whole Foods! We have large stores in my area too! It is an adventure going in Whole Foods, I love it! You are very entertaining! I love watching all your Vlogs! Take care of yourself and I look forward to watching your Christmas Vlogs.

I like Whole Foods, we have one where I live in Richmond (London Borough) however I’ve noticed a decline in variety of products since Amazon (who want to own the World) took over and since lockdowns it’s got a lot worse. Hopefully it will return to more like its former self in the not too distant future.

Here in Texas, where Whole Foods began, the prices are as "high as a cat's back" (as my late Daddy used to say 😉). Hannah, if you're ever in Texas I'll take you to Central Market or HEB to shop...you'll be like, "Whole Foods who?!" Your vlogs are just great, btw. Thank you for all the work you put into them!!❤️

Hi Hannah - greeting from New Zealand. I can tell you those truffle crisps that you picked up are worth the money. I buy a 40 g bag occasionally but I make them last four sittings because they are so expensive. And the olive oil biscuits are delicious too - especially if you get the orange-flavoured ones 😊 Have a great week!

Clearly my local Whole Foods is not the high end store you have in London and it's become less exclusive after they were bought out by Amazon. My local Walmart and Whole Foods are carrying same brands. I'm poor and use my low income Amazon Prime to take advantage of the extra discounts. This past weekend was the semi-annual health supplement 33% off sale. Surprised that the cheese counter in London is about half the size ours and you didn't seem to have the tasting samples, after a few mouthfuls of aged Gouda, it's a meal! Envy the extensive seafood section and the prepared foods.

Okay, sorry for a third comment. Because of my health, I have to buy low sodium and low saturated fat products. Every other week when I shop at Whole Foods for lots of nuts (chopped walnuts and sliced almonds), almond milk and produce, I spend the equivalent of £100: It is unfortunate that healthy foods cost more. Great video. I thought I had seen a Whole Foods in London near Covent Garden when I was there last in 2019. But I could be wrong.

Delicious food, great variety! I agree with you dear Hannah! Food in the UK is expensive. Here in South-Africa food is also expensive, but interestingly, our meat products are not at all expensive and it is of the highest quality in the world. Fast Foods are very expensive for the average person and is considered “a treat”.

4,70 is nothing for strawberries I got 200 grams of strawberries yesterday for 12£ at Harrods and 3 small bananas for 10£ so it’s reasonable prices if it’s Not GMO modified No chemicals on it and just organic as it’s.

Looking at how good Whole Foods is, the competition in the UK -Waitrose really needs to improve! I went into a Waitrose recently (admittedly far from London in Okehampton Devon) and the store was really dirty and scruffy with loads of items off sale it looked nothing like this Whole Foods....M&S have also massively improved recently, Waitrose need to look at the competition! I really like that craft ale and chilled wine selection!!

As a Dane, I couldnt help but laugh at her reaction at "Ole og Steen". Its called "Lagkagehuset" in Denmark and is in general considered a kind of "fastfood" bakery. Their selection is not really special in Denmark. Strange that it is considered a top bakery in London.
