It's day two in North Korea and we had the chance to ride on the Pyongyang Metro across the city. We also visited the Party Monument and got to climb the Juche Tower.
I was on a guided tour to North Korea with a company called Young Pioneer Tours. You can book here - bit.ly/2IX3imw

Zero commercial advertisement is good indeed. I remember, in Sweden there's zero commercial advertisement on TV as well.Anyway, North Korea deserves more tourists coming in to see the nation as it is, as it was labeled 'most harmonious nation' in the world; especially with the decades-old U.S. and Western sanctions which caused over a million N. Koreans deaths in starvation in the past. I like to see peace and prosperity that the country richly deserves. blog.chinadaily.com.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=785423

pyongyang is a very spread out city. it has alot of people but they are not usually concentrated in one area at one time. north korea's population also took a massive hit when the US blockaded north korea after the fall of the USSR and they suddenly could not feed their country for a few years, even today the government tries to squeeze as much food out of the limited farmland available in the country as they can and they still can't quite get to everyone.

@@nadia1994ization In Oxford you get coachloads of Chinese tourists fishing cameras/iPhones out and pointing them right in the faces of beggars, then snapping local landmarks. They do this all at the same time in tidy groups. It really is very odd... Apparently they wanted to see an archetypical English village so the coach to Bicester Village (where they *really* want to go - there are Chinese websites devoted to the place) stopped in humble Kidlington (nice enough but hardly a place of note) and they all got off and started photographing the place. This became a regular thing for a while and it was so surreal that the Times ran a leader about it.

The subway carts are formerly from the GDR, East Germany. They were used in Berlin for decades before they were bought by North Korea. A German broadcaster once filmed a documention in the North Korean subway, and the journalist was able to find a scratch mark with his name tag he made back when he was a child in Berlin :D Totally crazy! The North Koreans weren't too happy though when he pointed that out. They did not wanted to seem as if they only had old and discarded stuff lol

That's what was missing, and I didn't even realize it. Looking again, I would've expected to see birds in public squares like at the Worker's Monument (6:02) but there are none at all.
