5 years passed, this is still one of the best fan-made videos for a song. It's just so epic.

well, just like the description suggests - every single scene I rendered solely for this clip, using only my own meshes and textures as well. A few textures were based off photos but passed through a heavy texture-level and material-level rework, the rest was hand-drawn from scratch.

Well, see - there was not a word about anything but "When it rains, it pours like hell" so I felt kinda free in drawing the scenes :P Also as it's the intro to Above The Weeping World I thought it could be fun to make the clip about things getting fucked up... no lol, in fact I just wanted to make some fun explosions, fucked up cities and finally get that fighter model I've been working before into a clip :P

In fact there was nothing too hard in that, although the final nuke complexity highly outruns the effects used in the modern gaming industry (this one effect uses a multy-layered texture in order to make the flame slowly fade to smoke etc). The effects were designed that way intensionally in order to make them look at least somewhat realistic as well. The only effect that is a bit unclear is the one showing the big asteroid heating up due to atmospheric impact, should make it different I guess )

@MetalMonarchy Well, actually - no :) As you have noticed, the quality here was kinda weak just as the detail (couldn't make any better on a laptop :( ) so I don't think of continuing anything around this project any more. The next one will feature some attempt in storyline as well as an actual main character. Some flight acton again, this time with an actual fight scene (a quick preview of the flight engine can be seen on my YT account) and A LOT of detail in everything.

love insomnium and kalmah, check out wintersun too, if they could only finish their second album somtime this decade.

@rossyboy1081 no editing - all from scratch :P Years of trial and error, anyway though...

heh, of course not - basicly the only programming involved is the internal scripting language aka MAXScript, that is only necessary to help you out on some things. However nothing forces you to use it, here I didn't use any scripting at all, nor any additional plugins.
