Inspiral Carpets returned to Australia for the first time in 30 years with their Greats Hits Tour. As I hadn’t seen them before, discussions around the merits of the band’s two lead singers were somewhat irrelevant to me. Besides, I was much keener to hear live those wonderful keyboard melodies. ‘Original’ versus ‘authentic’ members all becomes rather meaningless when you are confronted with the here and now. The line up for this tour was Graham Lambert (guitars), Stephen Holt (lead vocals), Clint Boon (keyboards and backing vocals), Kev Clark (drums) and Oscar Boon (bass). There was no shortage of hits. I videoed six songs from the back of the venue where I hoped better sound quality would make up for the lack of close ups.

Metropolis Touring were thanked several times during the night, to which I’d like to add my thanks. The promoters continue to tour a terrific range of international bands which we might otherwise not be seeing. And unlike most of the other agencies, the ticket prices are always very affordable.
