She was originally drawn and designed to be a formula 40 trimaran. She however was launched at the classes end and never took part in the formula 40 racing that was taking place around France. She did go on to become one of England's most formidable multihulls during the mid to late 90’s and her race record and wins reflect this.
In 2010 she was sold and went on to sail from the east coast of the USA to Australia via the Pacific. In 2014/15 she underwent a full refit and redesign of her interior and exterior spaces. Spirit now poses as one of the worlds fastest 40ft cruising boats and is ready for extended sailing in remote places. She’s been set up to be energy independent and extremely efficient, which in turn makes her a very easy platform to cruise on. Her ability to maintain high speeds even in light conditions makes her a fantastic boat for those wishing to live simply on a pure sailing craft. Her race pace also makes her a great boat for anyone wishing to compete and to win races.
