I grew up playing Pokémon Blue and always had the goal of catching all 150 Pokémon and leveling them up to 100. Pokémon has always been a huge part of my life and I'm so grateful that even today kids can discover the magical world of Pokémon in so many different ways.
I grew up with the anime, but the games and Pokemon cards are also part of my life. The coolest thing about Pokemon is that the kids I tutor are still into it. (Of course, they're into the Pokemon from the latest generation, but still!) Pokemon is a great way that I connect to the kids.
It's not actually officially confirmed if Satoshi is on the spectrum. As far as i know outlets cite one source, a book from 2008 called Pokemon Creator: Satoshi Tajiri. I contacted the author and she said she sourced from a bio in a Myspace page that was supposedly Satoshis. The webpage is long gone and its not known if it was a fake or actually his. I wouldnt be surprised if he is on the spectrum but it would better if we could get Satoshi or someone on his behalf to confirm it or not.
I'm on the autism spectrum, so this might explain my weird interest in this. I think Rock Pokemon are like Fighting types, since both are physically strong and tough. That's why I like to collect Rock Pokemon in my games that I think look like Fighting types, and have them use moves of said type or moves similar enough. I got 1. Geodude with Seismic Toss, Mega Punch, Tackle, and Brick Break 2. Graveler with Strength, Body Slam, Rock Smash, and Rollout 3. Midnight Lycanroc with Mega Kick, Rock Climb, Reversal, and Counter 4. Cranidos with Headbutt, Take Down, Hammer Arm, and Head Smash 5. Carracosta with Body Slam, Low Kick, Zen Headbutt, and Focus Blast 6. And I'm trying to get Regirock, so I can give it Body Press, Drain Punch, Rock Climb, and Hammer Arm Does my ASD justify and reasonably explain my random interest in Rock/Fighting-like Pokemon and specific moves for each one?
These are some pretty good choices! Your ASD could have a hand in your interest in Rock/Fighting-like Pokémon as this does show a more detailed and passionate focus on a particular group of Pokémon and move set much like Satoshi Tajiri had a passionate focus on collecting and studying bugs when he was younger. Of course, this is just my speculation, as for me I have always been a fan of Psychic Pokémon as I am fond of the idea of "Mind over matter" as well as reading and watching things involving the supernatural and unusual from everyday life. Thanks for the question, I looked back at the articles I used and sadly this was a mess up on my end. I read one of the article saying that Satoshi Tajiri is not ashamed of his Autism then I look back at the video and it appears I worded it wrong. From what I understand looking back at the research. Satoshi doesn't talk about his Autism, so I went back to the video editor and I have removed that part of the video as it is not possible to prove that he said that. I apologize for the confusion and thank you for pointing that out.
