I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, PLS answer my questions cuz ppl that are getting payed to say good things about the GO3 wont... 1- Overheating: How long does it take to overheat? I cant record more than 8min with GO 2... 2- Can it record while its charging? With only the camera inside? Or charge the case with the camera recording something out of its case? 3- We all know splash proof is not waterproof, so woudnt it be bad to use it near a pool with its case?? 4- The necklace has now a new tilt acessorie, does it really lose its magnet power? 5- The flashing lights, can it still be turned off? 6- Is the vibration still something you cant get off?
I think if they improved on the cons it would be the best action cam out there. I think I would still like a camera that I could switch out batteries. Can you even change the battery in the body of that camera if it wore out? I don’t think so. And it’s not 4 k. I would imagine in the next gen they might have these things figured out..🤷♂️
Thank you for your work. I love the Go 3 camera. The form factor is outstanding but I often drop the small camera. I love to take only the small camera when I am out, no charger no screen. I make short videos by clicking on and off without knowing the result, I love the one-click operating mode,I know I have 40 minutes of videos and it is sufficient for me. When I am back home, I am excited to reveal the results on my mac. This is the main configuration I will be using it. For that purpose, I designed a 3D model case to protect the GO 3 small camera (much like the Go 2 case) when going outside to prevent it from collecting dust/lens micro scratches in my pocket or to drop it on concrete, it is really small and lightweight and it is easy to drop. I take it outside in my designed case 3D-printed in high resolution mode, it is not nude anymore, without worrying about dropping it since it is fully protected by the sturdy small case. I will put it up for sale soon between 15€ and 20€ inc. International shipping. The one I made for myself is White and I love it! So see you soon guys!!
@@pres002 How well it handles heat, comparison with similar products with example videos, deeper analysis of the quality of the finished images and videos, etc.
The form factor is really amazing and the camera quality is excellent when you take into account that the insta360 is so small and can be put everywhere
It's missing the best feature of the Go 2 - the clam shell extended battery. With that clam shell I could take my Go 2 with me everywhere in my pocket. Tiny. Safe. Always charged. Now Go 3 with its GoPro-ish pod it's useless to me - it now needs a bag...
Philip Bloom 3h · The Insta360 GO 3 has just been announced and the amount of sponsored videos, many from very high-profile people, is mind-boggling and a huge turn-off for me as a viewer. Why do these companies still do this? I’ve been testing the camera for more than 4 months on and off. There were lots of problems which meant most of that time was spent waiting for firmware updates. In the end, I turned down a sponsored video as I just can’t recommend it, certainly not at the price it’s being sold at. For me, a sponsored video is an endorsement and I don’t take that lightly. I am also not going to review it as there are too many negatives to make it a pleasurable video-making experience. So you have this post instead! I really love the tiny size of the GO cameras, it’s literally the main selling point. The new one is a little bit bigger than the 2 but the new charging case is a lot bigger. Instead of the clamshell one of the 2 you get the action pod which looks like an action camera with a space for the Go 3 camera to snap into with a flip-up LCD screen. This has a much bigger battery than the old case but has no actual storage in it, that’s all in the camera which you choose when buying. 32, 64 and 128 GB, the price range for those is $380 to $430. Whilst it’s nice to have a screen on it, using it like this is against the whole point of the concept. Plus the image on the screen is poor as it’s via Bluetooth even when hard connected, constant break up, very laggy and frequently very blocky. The overall quality of the video image is slightly better than the GO 2 but nowhere near as significant an improvement as it needed to be. You can shoot 2.7k now with built-in stabilisation but shooting that way is not as good as choosing the stabilisation in post as well as the aspect ratio and field of view; when shooting in that mode, it’s still 1440p. The only positive I can say about this is they have added a sharpness setting. This helps, but it’s not a good image off of that sensor so it’s a bit mushy at low and the compression is atrocious; even Topaz was struggling to bring it to life. When it’s mounted in action pod, it looks like any action camera and the image fairs so badly against the GoPro 11, Action 3 and even their own ONE RS 4K boost. It’s more expensive than most of those too and also doesn’t have removable storage or replaceable batteries. I wish they hadn’t gone down this design route and had instead improved the battery life with a slightly bigger clamshell, but mostly worked on the image as it needs it so badly. In 2023 it really should be way better than it is, and at those prices too. Also, the audio is still mediocre and even in the action case you can’t plug a mic in. I hate being negative, and I really wanted to love this, but nothing I shot on it felt good enough. DJI had a decent idea with their modular Action 2, but it was plagued with overheating. They dropped that design and returned to the bog standard action camera design. I wish they hadn’t, as it had such potential, and the image is SOOOO much better than the Insta360 GO 3. I really like the guys at Insta360, and like most of their cameras, I even made an actual sponsored video on the Insta360 One X3, as it really impressed me. I think that video is the best one I made last year despite being sponsored, as it’s ridiculously creative, so please watch it if you haven’t already. So I guess that’s my review. If you still want to watch the hundreds of videos about it on RU-vid, then be my guest! 🙂
Fair question - it’s mainly to encourage coverage of it as there are so many products at the moment. It’s less about ‘saying good things’, more about just demo-big what it can do, and prioritising making the video over other. That’s for me
great video! just a quick question, ca you confirm if the sensor has been improved or just the same? i have the Go 2 so I need to make sure it is a worthy upgrade. because both cameras shoot at 1440p at free frame/pro video mode
Cool! Regarding angle: so if it is clipped to the necklace, it has to be vertical? What does that mean for field of view and the conversion to a video. Or if it is free clipping, how well does it stay in place so the horizon does not change from level to angled due to movement (body, shirt)?
These videos are just paid ads. The first Go and the Go2 mostly had videos with similar titles and similarly overenthusiastic opinions from RU-vidrs, even though the products were riddled with limitations
When they sort the resolution out ill get one. They've produced a camera with the resolution of a £20 action camera with versatility as the selling point. Its just not good enough.
Unable to Register my new Go3 as my mobile (Samsung Galaxy) cannot download the required Insta SoftWare as it is NOT compatible? Never mentioned, I wonder why? I tried a friend's Motorola and it didn't work either! Tech Support said "this is only compatible with certain phones" ! Why is this never mentioned on any reviews ???
Disappointed My first impression is disappointment. For me, the beauty of the Go 2 was being easily pocketable. Being lite and slightly larger than an AirPod case, it was with me constantly. The case on the Go 3, while offering increased functionality, is chunky and heavy. I cannot imagine putting it in my pocket. Not to mention that I’m sure the lens cover would be scratched. In addition, leaving out haptic feedback was a big mistake. I depended on vibration to know when we turned on/off the camera. Much of this can be addressed by third parties. The Go 2 sticky mount and 1/4 mount were my most used accessories. We need Go 3 versions. We also need some sort of simple case or cover so the Go 3 camera unit can be carried in a pocket and avoid damage. As for haptic feedback, nothing can be done. Frankly, I am at a loss as to Insta360 strategy. It seems like they want to turn the Go X line into a wannabe GoPro.
I’m extremely disappointed. The Go 3 is not an extension of the ‘Go’ line. It is basically an action camera and does not deserve the ‘Go’ name. The Go 1 and 2 were true pocketable cameras. They made for serendipitous shots. Sure, the 3 has some improvements in specs. The screen is overhyped. The accessories are over engineered and clunky. I just picked up another Go 2 on eBay and may buy another. As far as I can tell, me and many others, feel it is a swing and a miss. PS - I’ll keep the 3 and use it to replace my GoPro.
Can this b used without wires to stream to your smartphone ? I want to use this as a backup camera that streams to my phone ... i ride w a phone wrist mount to see behind me w the cam ... is that possible w this ?
Will the Pill shaped camera work without the base nearby? In other words if I just grabbed the pill shaped camera and left the base with the screen at home can I still record on the pill shaped camera?
Yup. Your battery life will just be limited. I think around 40 minutes is what most people get out of the tiny camera pill. Over time, I'm sure that will decrease with every charge.
This is by far the worst camera in my bag! I hate using it because the footage is so difficult to edit. Customer service is terrible, it runs hot, it cuts off, good luck downloading the needed software, I have had issues with it and gave up. I shouldn't have to go through hoops to use a camera I paid cash for! I later bought the GoPro mini, not much better but it works and the footage is smooth. I am speaking on the GO2 not the GO3. I would not risk that one either.
If this was a 360° camera it would be exactly what im looking for, want something I can clip to a hat, and attach to the back of my car for thise awesome 360 view shots...
