I do really appreciate that to see someone on youtube giving his real impression instead of a scripted biased one 😍 I already ordered the GO 3... Now I almost reget it 😅 But you have my full support for your great work👌
Ended up buying both while doing research/reviews for the cameras. DJI action 2 app is easy to use, DJI Action 2 4k is a game changer. Still waiting for the Go3 to arrive but i do use the Go2 and so far the Action 2 is becoming my favorite. The quality of my video is very clear sense i started using the Action 2.
@vllssv go3 was easier to use with the screen, but vid quality was almost the same as the go2. Go3 was bigger and not pocket friendly. Ended up selling the camera and kept using go2.
If the action 2's removable screen was wireless like the go3 it would have been well worth the price. I would have bought one immediately like I did with the Go3. Having a seamless wireless display and remote so you don't have to use your phone is the gamechanger.
I have to say I have both and the screen on the action 2 is so fragile it makes the go 3 the best hands down, yes you could put a housing around it but if you are buying one of these you normally need it to be strong in case it drops
Overheating was my issue with action 2. Nice review. My fav was GoPro session 5. I sold my GoPros once I got dji osmo action 3. But I’m loving the Insta360 go 3 so far for my uses
Yeah the price and spec definitely makes a difference. The action2 goes for like 250 with the power bank, 280 with dual screen vs 400 for the go3. The action2 does 4k60 but has heating issues vs 2k50 no heating issues.
Ed, These-Thoughts are Exactly what I was waiting for. Thanks a bunch for the super quick follow-up! We win some / We lose some.. At least you still have a fun device to play around with.. [If it records some killer footage / memories - maybe That will warrant the high price tag in the end]
Insta360 has YET to produce a camera that can shoot 4K 120fps (bullet time is just a gimmick). I find that amazing, seeing that GoPro is on their way to 5.3K 120fps. I like my GO2 because the case actually protects the camera. I can throw it into my bag and not worry about it. For quick mini snippets from a vantage point that only tiny cameras can give you, the Action2 is the winner. Much better resolution and the ability to connect to the DJI Wireless Mic.
This is the review i was looking for… everyone is comparing it to the GoPro when this is more of a fair comparison. I have the action camera n recently ordered the go 3. But I think i will cancel it now because you answered the questions i was looking for. Thanks
Thanks! I also think, the GO 3 is way overpriced. In Europe it’s 450 EUR for the 64 GB version, thats around 490 $! That is too expensive for what you get, I my opinion. The Competitor could be the DJI Action 2, in image quality and versatility. And they gave up one of the key features: The small case for the pocket, that protects the camera. I will consider buying it, when the price here in Europe drops, otherwise I’ll skip and wait for the GO 4.
The magnetic pendent on the Action 2 isn't so great. There are motion jitters. It's much smoother on the Go 2 & 3. Also, the mounting options for the Insta 360 Go 3 is superior. In bring daylight and normal conditions, the Action 2 will outperform. One more thing about DJI, they tend to look dark w/o EV comp bumps.
Funny I thought the screen on the back of the action 2 was a horrible idea, certainly not something “lacking” on the go3… the only thing I think the go3 is lacking is external memory card slot in the dock/base
I love the aesthetic of the DJI Action 2 tbh but I have the Insta360 Go 3. Do I wish i could shoot 4k? Hell yeah. I just think the GO 3 is feature rich. Freeframe is probably my favorite feature since it allows me to figure out if I want the footage to be in 16:9 or 9:16 in post and being able to adjust the angle in post as well. Does the new software for DJI allow for this now? I'm unfamiliar with the apps. Also, can you attach the macro lense/ND filters with the magnetic case on?
Though Freeframe is limited to 1440P - which is ok but ideally you'd be able to shoot Freeframe and crop down to 2k. If you watch a lot of content on RU-vid, it is a joy when there is a 2k option rather than starting at 1080P.
I was pissed to see every youtuber praising insta as the most innovative thing and no mention of action 2(most probably payed to). Is action 2 perfect? No, but it definitely is innovative. For me, better battery stand alone/ storage and ability to have dji mic connected to it wirelessly would make it perfect. Also, yeah, could say the 360 software where camera films full sensor and then you can reframe it, it kind of is a game changer, but again, easily done over software I assume if DJi want to add that feature, and they should.
I'd love a recommendation of an alternative. Like SJcam or AKASO. I can see the pill shaped action cam being great for clinicians who have to record their sessions, they can wear it as a necklace and transfer the video between sessions.
THANK YOU!!! You just earned a sub!!!! I lost a lot of respect for a lot of content creators PAID to push this overpriced product!! $400?!?! Not 4k?!?? Are you crazy?!?! 🤦🏽♂️
With just 20 minutes of battery life, the Go 2 and Action 2 are a non starter which is why I bought the Go 3 with the 45/170 minute battery life. If you only shoot for 5-10 minutes, two, maybe three times between charging then I'd agree. I too prefer 4K/30. Does the Action 2 recharge when hooked up to the base unit?
I just got a used Go 2, i already have a Sony action cam for more serious stuff (longer battery life, swappable batteries, sd card, 4K…) and i was just waiting to get this at a discount price
That’s exactly what I said the day I saw the go 3 price tag even the go 2 is very expensive for what it is And some people trying to make it better than gopro What? Really?
The issue with the action 2, is that for someone that uses the camera mainly on their cap, the insta360 hat clip is way better than the go pro-looking dji. The DJI just looks awkward. Too bulky-looking for someone that just wants a quick camera to grab on their way to the park to record their kid riding his bicycle.
DJI Action 2 is the most underrated and not talked about action camera. New was to expensive, but now I have bought one with dual screen for £199. Than bought a battery pack for £49, dji water case for £29 , metal cage for £19. So I have used it for my cycling even in the rain to film 2h without stoping it at 4k 60fps and never had a problem. Very wide angle and the connection to app works perfect. Amazing the steady mode at 4k and so on is just no brainer. But nobody actually talks about it. 2h of constand 4k had never stopped due to heating as I was outside. So top top top. Go3 is a cool as you say but is not offering what dhould for that money their app is awesome and the x2 and x3 are great
The action pod is the complete wrong direction for the go series. No one wants to vlog like that with this tiny thing. The best part of the action 2 was that sweet little case with the remote.
