How does 4K affect battery life? heat dissipation? Do you still get the narrower FOV if you choose to shoot in 2.7K? Was distortion correction turned on in the old Go 3? The buildings were seriously warped!
You can export in Dolby vision and HDR now, and supposedly that's better for low light conditions because it preserves detail in the shadows and highlights.
I have just watched 3 Go3S reviews, and nobody talks about what I consider the USP of the Go line of ‘action’ cams, and that is freeframe. This allows you to place it approximately and then reframe it ‘in post’ if you missed a little.
It's not, they actually updated the size of the lens for the 4K and let me ask you this, even IF it was 'software' update and you pixel peep and the quality is better then 2.7K, does it matter? ;)
@@MiyagisRant 4k is based on sensor not lens size. The sensor is capable they just didn't give you 4k in go 3. Yes 4k matters to me, I wish I could return my go 3 for this.
@@truthseeker6804 Yes, you are correct, kind of, resolution consist of two factors, good optics and sensor. ie. I come from SLR background, a good camera with a good sensor is important but with a good lens, it's even better. That said, at the end of the day and what companies like Insta360 can push with hardware, the quality is there and that's what matters.
@@truthseeker6804You are incorrect. The sensor is the same size, so consequently it is not ever going to be a low light camera and was never intended to be. They actually accomplished the 4K with a much faster processor and a better lens... The new lens has 10% less fov, but also far less lens flare. So there's really no way to characterize this as a software update.
@@intrepidchimp read carefully, i didnt mention low light, only 4k. either a sensor has the capability or not. a lens doesnt give a sensor 4k. a processor can make a sensor run 4k smoothly if the processor is software optimized well, and it seems thats why they did, as they said, "powered by an enhanced chip". nowhere did they mention a new chip. its obviously not new. this is a software update.
It's a bit better due to the lens upgrade but still not as good as a larger sensor camera can do like the DJI A4 or Ace Pro. Maybe we'll see that in GO 4 ;)
This is what I want to know. I'm sure it wont be GOOD low light like the Pocket 3, but if its GoPro/Osmo/AcePro quality, I'll be happy enough. I bought one as soon as it launched anyway since I was waiting for 4k. If I remember to update this. I'll let you know how low light goes.
I'm still on the GO2 and it accomplishes all my crazy tight POV shots and chest and hat mount shots, plus a GoPro 12 that I love because it's so very tough and robust and I feel confident just throwing it in a pocket or backpack. I also have an X3 but I tend to save that for special things, due to the bulk with the extend selfie stick and tripod and the facility of the lenses. I'm tempted to get the GO3S for the various battery and storage improvements and because it's black!
I think you have it spot on. It is going to be hard to beat go pro for action. This camera seems great for fun. My wish is that they can have a way to have wireless audio
For everyone knowledge about horizon level + video rotation, the go3s crops the video a lot using freeframe and 360 Horizon lock view, shame, the Go2 had better Horizon lock and wider angle of view, also you can't rotate the video on freeframe. In the Go2 you can add keyframes, rotate video for a barrel efect and lock Horizon while switching from filming horizontal to vertical, not anymore on insta go 3s.
I've had various gopros since the 3 and honestly the newer ones are so problematic with overheating, video files getting corrupted etc.. just want a simple camera that works every time. This could be a good upgrade
Keep in mind that Insta FORCES you to install their smartphone app full of trackers and unnecessary permissions. Yes, YOU CANNOT use the camera unless you activate it with an app.
Gopro 12 isn't all that destruction-proof as you'd think. I now have both a Gopro and an Insta360 and i can honestly say if i were to be in a situation in which the camera might be on the receiving end, i'd rather have the smaller and lighter insta360 than the bulky gopro
Great content... I am a Pilot and was wondering what's the best recommendation for great cameras to use in the Cockpit. Primarily ones that can be used with a suction cup as well.
Is there like a review embargo on things like battery life? Every go that launches they go real hard on positive RU-vid videos, then it turns out the camera is buggy and doesn't live up to the promises.
I use to shoot helmet POV videos of car racing. I have GoPro 10, but it's big and heavy (and it's not allowed anymore in competitions). I want to get new Go3S but question is.. is it wide enough for that?
Great video thank you, it looks like you have used the DEWARP field of view instead of the new MEGAVIEW which suppose to have more field of view than go 3 before
I think if you already have the GO 3, just wait for the GO 4, that will be a much bigger upgrade than the GO 3S. In everyday use, the GO 3 is good enough, the 2.7k is pretty decent
I just returned my go3. (Less than a month) after I saw how lens distortion is almost gone on 3S. I hope at the same time that go3s will receive an update where at 2.7 it will be pretty much as good as go3 with horizon lock freeframe etc.
Your video is very misleading because the new 4K model Files are so large and it requires so much compressing of the file when recording that the battery overheats in the unit shuts off. Additionally you’ll only get a 15 minute video before the battery is dead if it doesn’t overheat. And a 15 minute clip can be as large as 4 GB. When you use the application and download it to your phone it takes forever. And if it’s running on it’s on battery power you can forget about using the camera when you’re done transferring the file. You have to wait for the camera to cool down before returning it to its home base unit to be recharged Which takes additional time. GoPro is the very best; smaller files, better audio/ video, and it does not overheat and shut off while it use!!!!!!
As I was watching the review I was seriously still not able to see how anyone would want to pick this up over a GoPro, this Insta360 camera is just so inferior to the GoPro that it’s a slap in the face that it comes with a higher price tag! 🤦♂️
i purchased go3 last week but havent opened a box, i got an option to pay extra 240$ in Australia to upgrade to go3S, Do you reckon its worth paying extra for go3S ?
Man I need to go downtown and get a walk in at big springs. You always make huntsville look so good in your videos. I wish the GO 3s had expandable storage. Having to live with my storage option choice forever makes me shiver...
There's an aftermarket solution for this. Google "type-c magnetic quick connector insta360 go 3" and look for the RU-vid video "Record longer Nerf games Insta360 Go 3" to see it in operation. Please know that you need a 3 volt power bank just like you do for the other cameras when they don't have a battery installed. Also, quick charge systems may not work. You want a 5 volt/ 3 amp power supply and a USBA to USBC cable, or a special USBC to USBC cable like the ones that come with the Insta cameras that just do dumb USB 3.1 charging and don't do power negotiation.
Exciting ! Does the 3S support UVC (USB Video Class Compliant) to act as webcam/streaming source ? At least when on its dock ? Also what's the output format & codec ?
When I connect it to my Mac (via USB and the dock), I can either mount it in "U-Disk Mode" (for copying files over) or "Webcam" mode. Just tested and works great on Mac. If I undock the camera, it disconnects, doesn't seem like it works wirelessly.
Of course it's not an authentic review if the producent says you can keep the camera after you have reviewed it. They've literally paid you with the product.
