This is the installation of a cold air intake on a Lexus IS 200t. This is for 2016-2017 Lexus IS 200t and 2018 and newer Lexus IS 300 (2.0L turbo engines). The one I installed is an AEM intake.

I got the hps intake and it was cool but the constant sound of air getting sucked in was starting to annoy me so I took it off. But after watching this you’re tempting me to put it back on

😂 yeah I get that. Because there is no sound from the exhaust, it’s the only sound I get but I mostly like it for the looks.

Great video, I’ll be putting my HPS intake on this weekend for my IS300. Did you have to disconnect the negative on the battery before installing or was it okay after startup?

Thanks. Have you ever heard of the engine light turning on if you install an AEM cool intake? I don't want any issues during a smog check.

Doesn't adding one of these metal intake tubes make performance worse since the metal would tend to be hotter than plastic thus creating more hot air in the intake?

I’ve heard that these non-box intakes are a waste of money since even with the heat shield, a ton of heat is still gonna be hitting the Damm thing, so while yes you are getting better airflow, a lot of that is gonna be hot air, a big no no for the engine, or am I wrong? I’m not a mechanic myself so I wouldn’t know for sure

I would have to put a thermometer in there to know for sure but it’s on the complete opposite side from the turbo and exhaust and there is a hole from the underside where fresh air can come in as well as the main duct. I don’t know for sure the exact temps but it does make the turbo noise so much louder and enjoyable for me. I also replaced all my plastic engine bay parts with custom carbon fiber and I really like the look of this intake as well with the carbon lol

Oh that’s not good. Maybe there was a mistake and it didn’t come with one. AEM intakes should come with it so maybe you can email them

Did you notice any difference in speed? (not talking about dyno numbers here) I have the BMS intake and I was thinking of getting the AEM or the HPS tubing and add it to the BMS, but if all it does is that sound (psshhh when you let off the gas), then I'll save my money lol! The AEM does LOOK good though!

It sounds awesome. You can hear the air being sucked into the intake and the shifts sound really cool. I didn’t have the car long before doing this but I feel like it does help the engine breath better

A lot of people say yes but others say no. If it does it’s probably a minimum amount. It can increase the power a little

I installed an HPS intake. I'm having an issue where the turbo boost will, in some cases, bounce back and fourth quickly from full boost to half boost. You can visually see it happening on the boost gage, you can hear it and you can also feel it during acceleration. This typically only happens when I'm in 4th gear and higher. 1st through 3rd gear full throttle the boost stays at max. Are you noticing anything like this or have any possible solutions to the problem I'm having. Thanks in advance!

I had that issue and you need to change your boost regulator valve. There was a tsb on the nx200 t for that issue. You may want to research that if you are having that issue.

@@MTParadise literally that man xD ,on spain the law for modify cars is a shit , so we had the rule for make a swap, needs to be: -the donant car should be more new -the engine need to be on the same position(front) -same hand drive -same wheel traccion(rwd). With this things you can put a turbo engine who has the same cc and 2 less pistons (who give to the car a little bit more of anger likes ca18`s or sr`s )this is quite good for mountain togue ,ofc more power/kg (an is200t from2016 its1.6tons ,the is200 from 99 its 1.4) , avaliable repro and ITS FKN LEGAL FOR NORMAL ROAD.

Stock actually works better it’s been dyno tested. lexus has ram air under the front shroud lowers the temps by like 30 degrees vs 200 under the hood temps. Loose like 15 hp with aftermarket parts. If your cars isn’t older then 1996 it won’t help Improve without boosting your car. Nice informative video just a food for thought since yours is turbo has no affect on performance

Well it looks really good and it significantly increases the intake and turbo sounds and I wasn’t really looking for performance. I would have gotten the IS350.

Lex B. I think you're incorrect; stock has less HP + TQ. AEM website shows the proven Dyno sheet with 28 HP+ 25 lbs TQ gained with this cold air intake installed VS stock. You'll get over a 20 HP gain for sure. AEM is a good reputable performance brand. Cold air intakes from reputable performance brands are guaranteed HP gained. Stock air intakes are proven to be more restrictive than performance aftermarket cold air intake kits. I recently installed a K&N cold air intake on my 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost. It gained 10 Hp+ 9.6 lb TQ. According to their Dyno sheets. The car is definitely more responsive with a small but noticeable bump in power.
