DIY Van build #19 Got Hitched - Curt Trailer Hitch receiver - Mercedes Sprinter Van Build.
MUST WATCH THIS! If you plan to install a Curt Trailer Hitch on your 2019 Mercedes Sprinter Van, I have noticed both options given for a 2019 Mercedes Van are Wrong. You have a choice of a STEP BUMPER or a STANDARD BUMPER. With the standard bumper Mercedes Van neither option fits properly. Instructions do state no drilling required but for the 2019 Standard bumper with the Curt hitch part # 13358 or 13388 you will have to drill or have a low mount hitch. Check out the video to see how we fixed the problem and get us ready to pull a trailer with our 2019 Mercedes Sprinter Van. Maybe it will save you some time and headache!!
Follow along as we build our 2019 Mercedes Sprinter into a 4x4 overland roaming home to travel the continent with. I post one video every Sunday showing one step at a time how this conversion is completed and the products being used..
Thanks for watching, see you next Sunday.

Adapt to overcome, there are times when a simple custom modification is required and that is a lot easier than getting a welding shop to build one for you. Totally enjoying these Sunday video’s, keep it up Jeff!

This project has been fighting you these last few modifications and it's very entertaining to see you work through all the problems, well done!

I like how you roll in theses videos. Simple explanations without bitching like some do. I’m outfitting my 2006 Dodge Sprinter and now I know where I’m going with my back step. Pretty much how did it.

Bro, you deserve way more likes on all these vids. Working my way through the whole build. The hydronic heat layout/install is what got me on your vids. Now I’m starting from the beginning and watching the whole thing. Really well done content!

Warnings: I just put 13388 on my 2019 144 wb 2500 passenger van with standard bumper. The hitch itself fits perfectly. But the 6 bolts are too long! When you tight them, it reaches the end of thread, you feel like it's tight but not! What I need to do is adding an extra flat washer.

Here's the question - I received the 13358 receiver as I have a step in 2018 3500 - my question is the inner dimension between the two struts that attach to the van. Was there room some play/space ibetween the arms that attach to the van and the frame itself? I ask because I already have similar thick plates that support a ramp that sits inside the back doors - so looks like I would need an extra width of about 1/2 " . PS My hitch came without a box and the right side was bent in slightly so returning it, but in this process, I realized that I already have plates on both sides so need it a bit wider.

Nice job. In my country, we are not allowed to install it ourselves, it must be done by a fully qualified and licensed fitment center. Sam as with the air suspension (well you can install the air suspension yourself but it must be checked and verified and tested by someone for it to be legal.
