Some of us use our tablet or phone as a hotspot. I use my tablet as a hotspot. I have my tab as the hotspot, and that's where I'm trying to get it to work. It used to work on my phone just fine without but my phone screen is 6.5" compared to my 13" or so laptop, and about 11" tab. If it still cuts off with adb, that sucks. I'll just stick to my laptop, since it's much more powerful than the mobile version (which, doesn't even bring Burp Suite, and that's the main reason I want the GUI on my tab).

Can Microsoft Remote Desktop be used instead of VNC? There is xrdp ( server ) packaged for Linux Workstations. It seems to me that it would be easier just to purchase a Pine64 PineTab2, Purisum Librem 11 tablet, or a Starlabs Starlite 11.5 tablet ( the last 2 are not ARM tablets).

Cant go through with the ubuntu instalation, i pick ubuntu and the version, and when I try to choose desktop environment (or any of the other options) it just doesnt register and i cant move on, have tried to reinstall andronix, didnt work. any ideas?

There shouldn't be problem. My S20 FE 5G is on Android 13. Works. Not sure what the issue is.. there can be numerous issues. Keep trying I guess.

Yea it'll use the same RAM. 4GB is a bit too low honestly. I recommend 8GB of ram.

You don't need LADB always.. you can use your laptop to execute those commands as well by plugging USB. Only one time needed in Android 13.

So would I be able to use complex VSCode libraries on it like opencv or keras? Stuff that normally wouldn’t be supported in pythonista Definitely would want to code on that sweet sweet OLED and with the s9 being water resistant it seems like the perfect tablet to code while traveling Do drawing programs work in the linux environment? Like excalidraw in obsidian or something? That would really solidify my desire to get an OLED water resistant tablet for linux

This is Linux emulation. Linux is not running natively on the chip. There is no hardware acceleration. This is useful for txt type of work, not recommended for art. Plus your mileage may vary. Not all libraries may work on ARM. Get a laptop instead for real work, I personally hate expensive tablets, they are nothing but luxury sidekicks (both Android and iPadOS). These are not mainstream features, so companies don't work on it. What I showed is a demonstration of what's possible and how one can take advantage of it. I'm not saying to buy a high end tablet to replace a laptop.

I definitely got entranced by the idea of waterproof OLED drawing on the same device I could code on but yeah I agree it’s better just to use my linux laptop to program and keep my drawing and recreational tablet stuff separate. You should google bro. Try to find your way through. That's the process. You can just download the .tar.gz file and unzip it. Launch vscode using code --no-sandbox

TAB 7 Plus? Are you talking about Tab S7 Plus? It does have SD card slot. Not sure what you mean by Android storage, check out the timestamps, I have shown how to get internal storage access in Termux.

Bro if it felt like a Native device, then we wouldn't be buying laptops anymore. It's not that smooth as it's being emulated but definitely good enough for typing workloads like coding/creating documents!

You can use ADB OTG - Shell app.. if you have another android phone. You cannot the two phones via OTG and use one phone to run the shell command on the other phone. Or lastly use ADB on PC.

Type vncpasswd in Termux, and you'll be able to change or make a password. You'll use whatever username you're under when you made the password 😊

Only if a linux rom is available for your device, otherwise you have to build your own linux rom. Otherwise you can use Termux Proot environment to unlock many more Linux features. Search about it.

@@Gladitor_EXE it will fail, it's the android 12 phantom process killer. To avoid it you have to run the 2nd adb command. You can run it via PC or on your phone/tablet directly using LADB.

Yea it's totally offline. Obviously you need to be online, when you wanna install softwares/update the distro, but otherwise it doesn't need any internet.

thumbs down. You're being totally misleading with the title of this video. Termux is not the same as Linux. This is more like an Android distro with recompiled Linux apps. There are lots of differences. from the Termux wiki... "all programs must be patched and recompiled to meet requirements of the Termux environment"

I installed everything(all shown in this video) like anyone on any desktop Linux distro would. Yes things like SYSTEMD doesn't work in proot environment, so no snap store in Ubuntu. For that we need to root and use chroot env. Anyways I'm not a Linux GURU. But this idea of accessing Linux and being able to better utilize an android tablet for learning basics of Linux (actually quite a lot on linux) and ability to code doesn't deserve a downvote in my opinion. But ok.
