This video is a complete installation of a top mount sand filter. I show you how to assemble the Swimline brand sand filter (similar to almost all top mount filters), the proper way to pour in the sand, lining up the valve body, and completing the install for water filtration.
Here is a link to the sand filter * :

Hi thank you the video. How often you change the sand?

Hi. Thank you so much for watching the video. If you properly backwash (every 3-5 weeks) your system, your sand should last for 3-5 years before you need to replace it. 3-5 is a good rule of thumb...3-5 weeks for a backwash and rinse...3-5 years for sand replacement. I hope that this information helps you 👍

Hey! Thanks for your installation tips. I was wondering if you would suggest using flex pvc on this filter? I got a similar filter in Canada and it came with a 3 foot piece of flex hose.

Hi! Thank you for watching the video. I have not seen a system with a flex PVC. But, I would have to assume that if the unit came with one, it must be rated to properly hold the water pressure and demand of the system. My only concern might be corrosion of the flex pipe (over time) due to chlorine content of the pool water. I hope that this information helps 👍

Do you have a video on how to change the sand or maybe some instructions. I am new to this and my sand needs to be changed.

Hi. Thanks for watching the video. I don’t have a sand removal video posted. Your sand needs to be replaced every 3 to 5 years depending on use and size of filter / pool. With that being said…there’s no super easy way to do it. You need to open the spigot at the bottom of the sand filter to drain out as much water as possible. Then, you will need to remove the valve body at the top of the sand filter drum (large black apparatus that you manually turn to various cycles). Then, you will need to use a wet / dry vacuum to suck out the sand. And finally, you will need to refer to this video on how to properly fill the unit back up with water and sand. I hope that this information helps you with your project. 👍

When you turned it to rince did you turn the filter back on.
@YouCanDoIt2
@YouCanDoIt2 23 дня назад
@@franzinefr Yes. The filter needs to be turned off, the valve switched to whatever function you are going to perform (rinse, backwash, etc) then turned back on for that function…Then, turn the filter back off again, turn the valve back to normal and turn it back on again. Never try to turn the valve while the filter is running. I hope that this information helps.

Where does your waste run?

Hi. I have the waste running out of a pipe that runs down the back of the home and into a grove of trees.
