Awesome step-by-step installation video. I’ve a set of those Hella 700 FF driving lights installed on my car too. It can’t go wrong with the Hella, the world leader in the automotive lighting industry.
In europe we turn of any highbeams if theres any incoming traffic. Thats pretty weird that u drive with ur auxiliary lights on while people are driving towards u and u still think theyre not blinded.
In Sweden we are not allowed to have the lights wired like that , we have to take signal from the highbeam to the switch and from the switch to the relay , that way you have to have your highbeam on for them to work , you guys must learn from us here in europe 😎
Ralf Risberg You, in Sweden (especially in Volvo trucks) MUST learn how to make headlights more effective and useful, especially when you drive 40 tons trucks with 100+kmph! The low beams of VNL (the model of this truck) are completely USELESS and unsafe for any speed above 40-50 kmph! Most of the (unlucky) drivers with VNL are driving almost permanently (90% of the time) on high beams, specifically realigned LOWER to avoid (as much as possible) the blinding of the oncoming traffic. The OEM headlights on VNL are pathetic and useless -- bad design and cheap materials (the lenses will get Yellowish after short period of time and lights are even more useless) I've seen trucks with 7-10 years old, original, headlights-- pathetic and scary picture!! Kerosene lantern from 19th Century has more illumination than low beams of VNL! After market headlight (Made in China or Taiwan) is $ 1000- 1200, EACH!! Thanks for your European advice but QUALITY of your headlights must be in higher, much higher levels if you have a sign that reads VOLVO! Safety and pathetic, useless headlights are ironic combination when we are talking about VOLVO! P.S. Personally, I have installed on my truck 2 pairs of additional lights- FF 50 (Made in Germany) with the "low" and FF 500 (Made in Taiwan) with the "high" beams! Different world, especially when you have 1000+km night driving!🙄 4-5 nights per week!Less traffic and more efficiently using your legal hours for driving! Be safe with your lights!👍
Excellent video! You cleared up a lot of questions I had. Just to be clear, it is possible to solder a plug onto each Hella light because blue wire = positive and black wire = negative, each of those connect to the harness which can connect to the positive and negative terminal of battery? Thanks
@@volvosweden In your video you said "the green wire is protected by a fuse"?... Is the fuse just extra protection, but doesn't absolutely have to have one?... (thanks, awesome video!)
Very well explained.! Thank you. I have the same model of truck. I bought my lights of off Amazon ( amber color) .. but the ones you use look better quality.. How much did you pay for them and do you know if they have Amber color ones for sale? Also as we know there’s a lot of vibration (due to road conditions) are they sturdy, do they move? Thanks again!
+John Dilinger The Hella 700FF were around 100$ USD. Available on Newegg. If you want amber just replace the bulbs to amber. They are pretty sturdy but still you don't want to brush them with force cause they could move and you will need to readjust the beam pattern.
May I asked if a 100 watts bulb could pose no issues on stock wirings on my hella 700ff? I’m worried that the housing would melt or worst could cause electrical fire due to high load on the wirings
install one on your Suzie so I can watch the installation and wiring process. I have a 500ff coming sometime next week. I'm afraid I'll screw something up. I either pay someone to install it for me or watch someone do it.
+quiambaomc It just looks scary. If you have any questions you can email me or even call me. yuriyermilov@gmail.com What vehicle are you installing the lights on?
OK I watched this video again and I missed the part where you have all the wires laying on the ground, and explaining which wire goes where. I think I got it now. mine has a very long green wire tho.
I was hoping these were going on the XC70! I have a set I removed from my Jeep before I got my XC70, I have been thinking of putting them behind the grill, just wondering what that will do to the level of air that comes through there. Great video, as always!
+Jeff Belcher I might actually install them on my XC70. Dont think its a good idea to block rad or intercooler. There is room on the bumper beside the licence plate.
