You shouldn't need Loctite. The screw should be 1/4-28. That thread pitch allows positive engagement in the lower. The typical "star" washer will help prevent the screw from backing out. However some after-market manufacturers don't supply the washer so they typically add a thread locking compound to the screw - you shouldn't need to add more. I typically check the screw during regular maintenance.
That's true. My reply was long enough already. One does not want to white-knuckle steel 1/4-28 threads in an aluminum receiver. The fine thread pitch adds additional friction that helps keep the screw from backing out. As I understand, the 1/4-28 is better than 1/4-20 because of the material "grain" structure.
