Rode Shimano 105, transitioned to DuraAce then Ultegra. Got an Apex (loved it a lot on my gravel bike) and Red 22 Etap. But the first time tasting the performance of Potenza groupset... (just by sheer chance) The bike I got that was on sale in Berlin and had this groupset mounted on it; I thought to myself, "well, should probably give it a try, campy sure has a lot of passionate and zealous followers." I then got addicted to this distinctive 'BANG!" on the downshift, my hyperactivity disorder kicks in whenever I hear it. And I am literally now loosing sleep over planning a new bike build with a record/super record groupset. I'm selling my SRAM Red Etap groupset just to revert to mechanical. It's hard to come by these days. I think You are making the very right move to keep high end mechanical in Your line of products, I hope I get to buy one day when its available.
I’m looking to get a custom steel road frame set soon, probably stainless; when I do it’s either Record or Super Record I’m going with (I already have Chorus on my current road bike)
Does anyone else hate that Campagnolo changed their front derailleur shifting from the old 10s system with lots of closely spaced 'index' clicks which allowed you to move the derailleur into whatever position you wanted and also allowed using the shifter for a triple setup, to the new system which is more like Shimano? Record 10s is still the best groupset ever.
I love 11 speeds campagnolo set. Carbon shifters are 500% times nicer. I bought chorus 12 speeds set. Shifters are owuful, cranckset terrible design. Too big, im very sad with my buys.
ya lite, i'll run my 10 spd chorus till they fall apart. the carbon shifters have never started peeling either after 12 years. i don't like 11 spd either!
@@drjwbriand I have the 10 which is superb, the 11 speed is aesthetically sexy and a tad better than the 10 speed but the 12 speed is better than the two. It is robust looking, shifting is crisp and much more responsive.
Love my 2015 Super Record 11-speed, also like my 10-speed Centaur on my older bike. But the SR's front mech shifts so much quicker and smoother, you can immediately feel it.
I personally ride on shimano Di 2 11 speed, but I have always recognized campa as being the best of the best,the beauty, the design, the ergonomics, the reliability etc etc, but the IK! it is the price that has always put a brake on its purchase, shimano equips almost all the teams of the world tour, but often the teams have Campa Bora or Shamal carbon wheels, in short the manufacturers abuse the prices are exorbitant and not justified, no wonder everyone jumps on generic or copies or sometimes stolen material
Do you have to fit the chain first before lining up the rear derailleur jockey limits ? With Shimano you can set the limits without the chain or cable fitted.
I have a question. My groupset is Campagnolo veloce but i have a Chorus 11s crankset and works great. If i want to upgrade to Chorus 12s groupset, can i keep the 11s crankset or there would be a problem??
Fist step is get your derailleur out out of the box. Second step is, chuck it in the bin then go and get yourself a decent groupset! I am also selling a chorus groupset! Do yourself a favour and get a groupset that doesn't shit itself from a bit of sidewind and dust!
Yes, bogus! It caused me to cut the chain to short. 😡 You have to use the old method of cutting the chain to the length that leaves 8-15mm between the upper jockey wheel and the lower chain line when in the smallest sprocket and smallest chain wheel. I did learn that an 11 speed quick link seems to work fine with the 12 speed chain. 😤
