This video is an installation aid only. The printed instructions must be read completely and present during the installation of the stabilizer / damper kit. RykerMod.com Steering Stabilizer Backet (patent pending) Can Am Ryker 600 and 900
Hey Jeff, the instruction give an upper limit of 10. However, we suggest setting your stabilizer to 4-6. Most of our bikes that we have and install. We set to 4. We do have some heavier men that prefer higher settings. However, let’s understand the assembly. The stabilizer is installed as a shock arrester. The lower the setting, the better for the rider. The higher, the setting, the more restriction. For bigger, stronger people this may not be an issue. But for most riders we find 4-6 being the sweet spot.
Got mine today. New 2022 owner here and thanks for selling me a piece of junk! Kidding, totally kidding. Great quality, great video and it rides AMAZING. Took me an hour and 1/2. I am not very mechanically inclined but it turned out exactly in perfect position. Would have been done a lot sooner if I wouldn't have messed up 1 of the measurements. Far as I'm concerned this is a must have if your riding on roads like me (Indiana) Thank you, great experience all the way around
Got mine today and installed. Very nice kit. The parts are top notch and the instructions are above and beyond. Significant difference in handling and stability. Nice job.
Read all the reviews and decided to purchase one. Man they were not lying no kidding this is a GAME CHANGER..... It really feels MUCH MORE STABLE AND LESS VIBRATION THRU THE WHEEL DEPENDING ON THE ROAD. The videos were spot on and it took about and hour or so. I will say though that I need some slight adjustment of a 1/8 or 1/16 hereor there to make it so it did not jam or bottom out the cylinder. on full turn to one side. I do feel this is my sport model and not the kits fault. If you need to adjust just do a little at a time and you will be fine. Drove 100 miles today at the 5 setting and seems to be perfect. I was unable to find a video describing why to set it at only 6 at the highest but with so many people saying either 4 but no higher than 6 I don't think I want to test it out lol. Over all THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR A RYKER.
I understand that your focus is on the Ryker; however, since you also engineer & fabricate, I was hoping for input (on a ‘relative’ application). For Dual-Sport / Enduro motorcycles, the go-to seems to be the ‘pod’ style damper (e.g. Scotts). I have had many street/sport bikes, but not dirt bikes. Do you think that a linear damper would/could work on a dirt bike ? Or, can you think of a compelling reason why they don’t seem to be used other than folks’ need to buy expensive bling ? I appreciate you. Sharp parts design & production. Excellent explanations.
Adjustment instructions are covered in the installation manual. To answer your question stabilizers are not installed for restriction but for shock arrest. It is a best practice to set your stabilizer to its minimal affective setting.
Ok I have a question and no matter were I search cant get the answer... The instructions and such are great but it says in multiple places do not go over setting 6. on mine it does run awesome at five or six. However I wonder if 7 or 8 might even be better. But for the life of me I cant find any information. In one video someone ran it at 8 but he had very little information. Any chance someone can help? I don't want to mess it up by going higher. I tried the web site but cant find a phone number for the company...
Hi for anyone that has this installed I have a question. It appears that the assembly covers the oil filter cap. Do you need to remove the whole assembly when doing an oil change?
This system eliminates handle bar shake or pull away while riding on rough roads or riding over large bumps. Improves handling in turns and gets rid of the drifty feeling in the straights. We've used them forever on road bikes for the same reason, (Common term Tank Slapper) we just developed a way to apply the technology to the Ryker. Sway bars and end links really do not do the same thing. Please read more on www.RykerMod.com Video coming soon.
