Trying to finish up my install of the cooktop. Needed to finish up the electrical wiring on the unit itself.

Did it ever work and now it doesn't? You checked your breakers? Do you have a meter to check for 240 volts? Good luck on your travels.

Thanks. You used 6-2 romex? I was planning on 8-3 but it seems like I could use 8-2 if code allows new work as 8-2. Any reason to not use 8-2? Thanks again

I always do things overboard. Just the way I am. Also, I had about a 70-foot run of electric. Since I was above 50 feet, I did not want to have any voltage drop in my line. If you plan to not use the cooktop to its full potential, you could get away with less, I guess. Good luck on your travels.

@@thefurious69 Thanks. My question is not so much the gauge, but the 2-wire vs 3-wire.

Can you tell me what brand and type of silicone did you use?
@thefurious69
@thefurious69 Год назад
I think I used GE black silicone so it blends in with the induction cooktop. Good luck on your travels.

Can you elaborate on the "ground isolated with the neutral" comment at the end of the video? You don't need a dedicated neutral for this 240V cooktop, so you connect the black and white wires to each pole of your circuit breaker pair. I see a bare copper ground wire coming out of the wall which you connected to the box and the ground wire on the cooktop. So everything is kosher, right? Nothing to really "deal with?"

I have had no problems. We cook on this thing probably 6-8 times a week. Not chef like cooking of course. Eggs, pancakes, hot dogs, etc. Easy simple things I guess. Good Luck on your travels sir.

Is it a traditional 240 line? Just possibly Looking into buying one
@thefurious69

Yes, it is standard voltage rating. Very easy to install. Good Luck on your travels.

Thank you for the video. Is it ok to use a 50 amp plug to connect to an existing 50 amp outlet instead of this junction box setting? Thank you
@thefurious69
@thefurious69 Год назад
I guess you could. I used twist lock 50 amp plugs for similar situations. Good luck on your travels.

do you know how tall this unit is. It says it is 3 5/8 but with the electric cord and those little sqaure feet underneath I am not sure how high it actual is? We are waiting for this unit and need every centimeter

Did you get your unit? Sorry for the late response. How did the install go? Hope everything went well for you boss.

the unit itself is 2-5/8" and another 3/4" for the cable. you'll need some wiggle room if you have an oven unit in the cabinet as well. always good to have extra space for air circulation. the manuals are available online (they recommend 5" depth min.)

How did this hold up? Frigidaire includes some relief brackets and also sells an optional granite mounting kit. I see you didn't install any brackets.

I still cook on this thing to date. I got the extended 5 year warranty on this unit. Did not need to use the warranty thank goodness. I'm not a professional cook at all as you can see in my other videos, haha.

I do not believe you should seal an induction cooktop! no silicon...

It is a pain to clean under it. Especially if liquid spills. I do not want to deal with cleaning.

I'm sorry boss. My studio apartment is slightly taller than a crawlspace and slightly bigger than the average bathroom. I had to work within my means just so I could get anything to be able to cook for my kids. Good luck on your travels.

So to hell with the mounting brackets ? This installment is incorrect. The weight of the cook top needs to be supported by the brackets Way to misinform all

@@user-bu5vp9nd9m I apologize greatly for getting soo upset. That was not my intention, but rather support and help the community. I will try harder next time for you I promise. Just give me the chance boss. Thank you for your time. Much appreciated. I hope you have a happy and prosperous rest of your week. You will be in my prayers tonight with my family at supper. Good luck on your travels. =)
