Crystal it was very frustrating trying to cook with only one of the rings working yes the product is nice and really works.

Hi Clinton! Thanks for your question. The cooktop is holding up well. The framing needs to be less than a 1/4” larger than the frame of the cooktop to support the entire unit. When we did our install my husband made it too tight & he had to chisel out the close areas for a pretty tight fit. On the contrary, wood is a poor conductor of heat & is ideal for this cooktop installation. Also the cooktop is designed to be supported on the sides, top, & bottom as opposed to the metal areas housing the burners. You are not overthinking but rather making sure you do the job properly. There’s nothing wrong with asking questions unfortunately, you will likely have to make some adjustments on the fly to make the cooktop fit securely. We used 3” & 4” wood screws to secure the wood to the surrounding cabinets on the sides being careful not to screw through the drawers as that happened once during our installation.
