Thanks for watching this video! Our apologies for the occasional audio interference with this one, but hope this video was still helpful and full of useful information.

Why no caulking around the top? With food around, it's inevitable the little gap between the stove and countertop, as well as the steep angle, becomes really dirty. What about the risk of water running down the little gap?

Can the cooktop be installed on quartz without cracking the countertop?

Yeah, didn't he say something about stripping vs caulking? What kind of stripping should be included? Mine didn''t have stripping included.

Hi there! We love ZLINE. We partner with them often because their products are luxurious looking, but at very affordable price! They are also very efficient products. Let us know if you have any more questions, we would love to help out!

looks like original wiring was aluminum from the source, and copper to the cooktop, but the wires were just twisted together? I thought there were some special steps for aluminum to copper wiring. Also, the wiring for the new Zline induction is aluminum?

How would I wire a a 3 wire unit with a white black and green wire to an existing 4 wire supply with a red black white and bare wire?

Hi great video. Can you hardwire an induction hob that comes with a plug? My new AEG came with a plug and the current one connected is hardwired.

I just purchased the 30” Zline induction cooktop. The instructions call for all kinds of ventilation requirements-left/right/and even in front of the cabinet venting out. That seems a bit excessive to me; I will not be cutting a vent into the front of my cabinets. I see that there is not any front ventilation in this set up, so I assume that I will be fine with a similar set up? I just had a company called shelf genie come out and they said they could turn our false drawer front (in front of the range) into a pretty slick spice drawer that would go under the cooktop. Would you recommend against that due to ventilation requirements? I believe they could have the false drawer do a tilt down for a smaller spice drawer as a plan B. That would leave the underside of the cooktop completely open. Very interested to hear your take! Great video!

Hey Nick. We would suggest following whatever requirements ZLINE has in its instructions (for safety purposes). You might want to reach out to them to see what they suggest or if there are any workarounds. We like the sound of your spice rack! Hopefully you're able to get it!

@@ApplianceEducator Sorry but why didn’t you follow the instructions, they all say to cut venting in the front and back of cabinets.

@@jameslund221 Hello James, thank you for the comment. In this video, we were showing how to replace an existing induction cooktop with the same measurements. We may not have gone into depth on the ventilation here, but we always recommend following the installation guidelines of any product you're installing yourself. We always suggest following the ZLINE requirements listed in the instructions for safety purposes. We also recommend reaching out to ZLINE Customer Service, you can contact them at (614) 777-5004 or contact@zlinekitchen.com for the best assistance! Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Nice install tutorial. About to invest in an induction cooktop; my question is can I install a gas oven without a cooktop under the induction cooktop with a 10inch space between the induction c/top and the gas oven. Thank you for your response.
@ApplianceEducator
@ApplianceEducator 3 года назад
That is a great question, I would guard against that just to protect the cook top. If it is your only option you need to make sure you have at least 4 to 6 inches of space between the two. The fans under the induction need to be able move the hot air and cool the induction.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. We've seen cases like this where it was fine! Your best bet is to contact the manufacture to make sure that its allowed as well as a local technician in your area who knows currently safety codes.

Also what do I do if my old rang top is only 110 volts?
@ApplianceEducator
@ApplianceEducator 2 года назад
Hello James, thank you for your comment! Since the electrical requirement for the ZLINE Induction Cooktop is 240V, we would recommend having an electrician come out and ensure that you pull the 240VAC from your breaker panel and run the appropriate wiring to the back wall of the kitchen underneath the cabinet. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Do you need a vent for this type of cooking?
@anonnona8099
@anonnona8099 2 дня назад
Only if when you heat water using induction it still gives off steam, or if when you fry things using induction it still gives off greasy fumes/smoke. If you can manage to boil water without steam, or fry things without fumes/smoke then no, you don't need one.

We are replacing an electric cooktop with an induction cooktop. If there is no ground wire coming through the junction box (from the house), can we screw the green wire from the appliance to the ground screw on the junction box?
@ApplianceEducator
@ApplianceEducator 2 года назад
Hi Marilyn! Thank you for your comment. To answer your question simply, there has to be a ground wire, if you set up and do not use a wire, it will negate the warranty! We hope this answers your question. Thank you
